Aladdin Kerosene Mantle Lamps

Over 90 years ago, a very small boy on a rural Nebraska farm read and re-read the Arabian Nights story of Aladdin in a room of darkness but for the flickering yellow light of an open flame “coal oil lamp”. Several years later, that boy, grown to manhood, found a lamp that erased darkness with a soft white light. It was only natural that he named the lamp “Aladdin”. An appropriate name, indeed, for this revolutionary boon to rural American seemed nothing short of magical in the intensity of its light.

In 1915, the Aladdin Mantle Lamp Company introduced its Model # 6, and it earned a gold metal and a blue ribbon at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco, California. They boldly proclaimed the Aladdin as the best kerosene lamp in the world. An offer of $1,000.00 was made for any oil-burning lamp that could equal the Aladdin in twenty-six important features. To this day, the offer has not been collected.
Improvements were made in the Aladdin burner in the early 1930’s, when Aladdin figured out how to eliminate to center draft tube and use a side draft burner. This also made it possible to produce glass lamps. In 1933, Aladdin introduced it’s Model A side draft burner and 4 glass styles. The Model B (considered by many to be the best burner made by Aladdin) was introduced a few years later. A large selection of glass lamps followed. The Model B was followed by the models C, 21, 21C, & 23. The Model 23 is the current model. In the last few years, Aladdin has been styling their new lamps after older models. The new Deluxe Brass series are similar to the Model 6. The Grand Vertique series made by Fenton Glass, is made from the original Vertique mold. The Short Lincoln Drape lamp was designed by Eugene Schwartz in 1939, it is still one of the most popular Aladdin lamps. Many shades have been designed after older shades. All of the new shades are somewhat different in their design, so reproductions can not be sold as originals.

For those who lit the lamp, trimmed its wick, and cleaned its chimney, or just enjoyed its friendly glow, the Aladdin recalls many memories of golden childhood. It made learning possible for many boys and girls; and made it possible for the to acquire knowledge the helped them realize their dreams and aspirations.

Later, Aladdin brought this white light to every kind of habitat in every corner of the globe. For many, it has been the only light of their entire life. Even when electricity comes, there are a loyal few who profess to use the electric light only “to find the match” to light their Aladdin.

Victor Samuel Johnson made the Aladdin mantle lamp a household word throughout America. Born February 6, 1882, in a sod farmhouse five miles south of Minden, Nebraska, he grew up on that farm, studying his school lessons by the flame of a common kerosene lamp. He learned his lessons well, and by 1904 was a bookkeeper and salesman for the Iowa Soap Company in Burlington, Iowa.In 1905 Johnson first saw the superior light produced by a German kerosene mantle burner, the “Practicus.” This lamp was imported into the USA by the Connecticut Trading Company. Remembering the poor light by which he studied as a youth, Johnson recognized the potential for sales of mantle lamps in rural areas. At last, people without electricity could have good light.Victor Johnson gave up his steady job in 1907 and formed the Western Lighting Company in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The company obtained rights to sell the Practicus, foreign-made mantles, and other foreign alcohol-burning lamps. Soon after the Practicus was successfully introduced at a hardware dealers’ convention in Kansas City, Johnson moved the business to Chicago, Illinois. On February 27th, 1908 he incorporated The Mantle Lamp Company of America. At that time Johnson estimated there were about 65 companies distributing kerosene mantle lamps in the USA and only 9 or 10 manufacturers world-wide.Properly adjusted, the Practicus produced white light of about 60 candlepower. The burner was designed to fit common American-made lamp fonts. However, the Practicus, with its single wire mantle support, often went out of adjustment, required constant attention and the slim chimneys cracked. Because of these shortcomings, Johnson searched for a better mantle lamp.

The initial sales of the Aladdin were beyond all expectations. It was so much more efficient than other mantle lamps—to say nothing of the conventional flat and round wick lamps of the day—that it quickly made other kerosene lamps obsolete. Soon the Aladdin could be found throughout the United States and Canada, and ultimately it made its way around the world.Johnson established a small research department early in the history of the company. His recognition of the need for improving quality through research was ahead of the times. Today a research and development department is considered vital by virtually all manufacturers.

Undoubtedly the preeminence of the Aladdin through a half-century of competition was due to the continual development of improved models to provide dependable operation, increased illumination, greater safety, and, in general, a “foolproof” lamp. These achievements were largely the results of research accomplishments by Charles H. Smith, Cortland W. Davis, W. B. Engh, Fred Spangler and Eugene Schwarz.The first major breakthrough were inventions, that led to Model No. 3, patented in 1911 by Charles H. Smith (assignor to The Mantle Lamp Company of America, Chicago, Illinois). Model 3 featured a combined mantle cap and burner cone (KoneKap Mantle), improved construction and a new air distributor or gasifier (flame spreader).The KoneKap mantle was the first mantle to be made by the company itself. His fiery temper endeared him to audiences, and in the 1940s he surpassed Mickey Mouse in the number of cartoons reaching the theaters. Eventually, there were 128 Donald Duck cartoons, but he also appeared in a number of others with Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and Pluto. His middle name, shown in a wartime cartoon, is Fauntleroy. The original voice of Donald was Clarence "Ducky" Nash, who was succeeded after 50 years by Disney artist Tony Anselmo. A daily Donald Duck newspaper comic strip began on February 7, 1938.Donald Duck has a good heart and always has good intentions. Well, almost always. Actually, it's his second or third intentions that are the good ones, but by the time they surface Donald's already off and running in the wrong direction. He refuses to let anyone or anything stand in his way. It doesn't matter how much humiliation the world dishes out to him, Donald will take it and come back for more. In 1873, a New York merchant named Ed McGrath had seen in China, while on a visit there, a white duck near Peking, so large he mistook it for a goose. McGrath (so the story goes) bought some duck eggs and had them hatched. He also asked James Palmer, either a sea-captain or a Connecticut merchant, to bring twenty-five ducks back to America, Palmer to receive half of the ducks in payment. Four months later, nine pure white and succulently fat (the pride of Peking) ducks, the only survivors, landed in New York. Palmer delivered five ducks to the McGrath family, and without any instructions to the contrary, they were soon turned into a delicious dinner. The other four ducks which Palmer kept for his trouble were also taken to Connecticut but for breeding. These ducks took to the environment and quickly multiplied. These four ducks are the ancestors of today's long Island ducks, for it was soon found that long Island with its humid climate, abundance of running water and sandy soil was well suited to duck raising.

Of the transition to the Island, little is known. According to one historian, the Speonk and Eastport area was the starting point in 1885, and it had at one time the largest duck Farm in the world; A.J. Hallock's Atlantic Farm on Speonk River. This farm set a record of a quarter of a million ducks raised in a year. The hurricane of 1938 wiped it out. The Peking duck lacks one instinct, it has little maternal feelings, but it is a good breeder. Usually a good duck lays 150 eggs in its laying span each year, and an important part of duck raising is determining which ducks to keep for breeders. Naturally one continually wants to improve the stock, so those which have a well placed eye, good shaped head and neck and a wide deep breast are kept for breeders. Previous to the introduction of the first incubators in 1890, "broody" hens had been in great demand at a dollar a head to hatch out these ducklings

Four weeks are needed for a Peking duck to hatch. Many a housewife helped out her "pin-money" by having a setting hen hatch ducks at five cents apiece for her neighbors who were starting small duck farms. The incubators that replaced the "setting hen" were dangerous things as the heat was furnished by a kerosene heater and required almost constant watching for it was a fire hazard. Bloomers were heated the same way with kerosene lamps. Another job connected with these incubators was the turning of the eggs each day by hand. Today's huge incubators hold thousands of eggs and humidity is kept at a careful 50%, temperature a constant 99.5, and the eggs are turned automatically.

Some duck farms today only raise baby ducks. These ducklings are then sold to surrounding duck farms. This necessitates the keeping of many breeders throughout the year. Those in the know, if possible, used to buy breeder ducks for their own eating pleasure. These are not force fed and do not grow at such a rapid pace, so the meat is firmer and not so fat. Many farmers got a few eggs and raised their own and fed them right along with the chickens. I remember when my grandfather had a duck farm, he gave my brother eight baby ducks. They all grew up and they got to be pets. How my mother used to scold when they followed all the members of the family into her clean kitchen. One instinct of Peking duck works to the growers advantage. It is a glutton; it will eat as much as is put before it. The first duck farms used fish as a primary food. Great kettles of them were cooked up and then mixed with cornmeal and bran. The young ducks went for this, devouring everything but the bones. Finally, the practice of feeding fish reached a point where the Commission merchants complained, the customers were rebelling. If they wanted fish, they would buy fish, but they didn't want "fishy" duck. After this all shipments of ducks carried a tag, “This duck guaranteed free from fish."

The SWOOSH logo is a graphic design created by Caroline Davidson in 1971. It represents the wing of the Greek Goddess NIKE. Caroline Davidson was a student at Portland State University in advertising. She met Phil Knight while he was teaching accounting classes and she started doing some freelance work for his company. Phil Knight asked Caroline to design a logo that could be placed on the side of a shoe. She handed him the SWOOSH, he handed her $35.00. The Nike athletic machine began as a small distributing outfit located in the trunk of Phil Knight's car. From these rather inauspicious beginnings, Knight's brainchild grew to become the shoe and athletic company that would come to define many aspects of popular culture and myriad varieties of 'cool.'

Nike emanated from two sources: Bill Bowerman's quest for lighter, more durable racing shoes for his Oregon runners, and Knight's search for a way to make a living without having to give up his love of athletics. Bowerman coached track at the University of Oregon where Phil Knight ran in 1959. Bowerman's desire for better quality running shoes clearly influenced Knight in his search for a marketing strategy. Between them, the seed of the most influential sporting company grew.

The story goes like this: while getting his MBA at Stanford in the early '60s, Knight took a class with Frank Shallenberger. The semester-long project was to devise a small business, including a marketing plan. Synthesizing Bowerman's attention to quality running shoes and the burgeoning opinion that high-quality/low cost products could be produced in Japan and shipped to the U.S. for distribution, Knight found his market niche. Shallenberger thought the idea interesting, but certainly no business jackpot. Nothing more became of Knight's project.

Cut to 1963. Phil Knight traveled to Japan on a world-tour, filled with the wanderlust of young men seeking a way to delay the inevitable call of professional life. Seemingly on a whim, Knight scheduled an interview with a Japanese running shoe manufacturer, Tiger--a subsidiary of the Onitsuka Company. Presenting himself as the representative of an American distributor interested in selling Tiger shoes to American runners, Knight told the businessmen of his interest in their product. Blue Ribbon Sports--the name Knight thought of moments after being asked who he represented--was born. The Tiger executives liked what they heard and Knight placed his first order for Tigers soon thereafter.

By 1964, Knight had sold $8,000 worth of Tigers and placed an order for more. Coach Bowerman and Knight worked together, but ended up hiring a full-time salesman, Jeff Johnson. After cresting $1 million in sales and riding the wave of the success, Knight et. al. devised the Nike name and trademark Swoosh in 1971.

By the late '70s, Blue Ribbon Sports officially became Nike and went from $10 million to $270 million in sales. Katz (1994) describes the success via Nike's placement within the matrix of the fitness revolution: 'the idea of exercise and game-playing ceased to be something the average American did for fun,' instead Americans turned to working out as a cultural signifier of status. Clearly, the circumstances surrounding the shift are not this simple; it is one of the aims of this project to discover other generators of popular attention to health.

If Nike didn't start the fitness revolution, Knight says, "We were at least right there. And we sure rode it for one hell of a ride" (Katz, 66). The 80s and 90s would yield greater and greater profits as Nike began to assume the appearance of athletic juggernaut, rather than the underdog of old. "Advertising Age" named Nike the 1996 Marketer of the Year, citing the "ubiquitous swoosh...was more recognized and coveted by consumers than any other sports brand--arguably any brand" (Jensen, 12/96). That same year Nike's revenues were a staggering $6.74 billion. Expecting $8 billion sales in fiscal 1997, Nike has targeted $12 billion in sales by the year 2000.
And all from the back of a car.

Few can question Nike's financial hegemony. But nearly $7 billion in revenues clearly begs the question, What sells these shoes? It is my assertion that Nike's power to sell comes from deep-rooted yearnings for cultural inclusiveness and individual athletic accomplishment. These seemingly paradoxical desires collide in consumers hearts and minds and produce the unyielding zeal for Nike shoes and apparel. Unfortunate effects of this zeal can be found in the rash of Nike apparel killings in 1991 and the profusion of Nike collectors and webpages designed around the company's products. (See listing of homepages on Works Cited Page) Nike appeals to these disparate elements of Americans' personalities through an advertising philosophy that is, at once, simple and sublime. In addition, Nike's practice of top-level athletes promoting their products appeal to countless ages and creeds as a way to identify with and emulate their athletic heroes. These forces work powerfully upon the individual consumer, but one should not lose sight of the cultural context in which the individual moves.

Like many other sports, table tennis began as a mild social diversion. Descending, along with lawn tennis and badminton, from the ancient medieval game of tennis. It was popular in England in the second half of the nineteenth century under its present name and various trade names such as Gossima and Whiff-Whaff. After the name Ping-Pong (an imitation of the sound made by the ball striking the table and the vellum bats that were used) was introduced by J. Jaques & Son, the game became a fashionable craze. There are many contemporary references to it and illustrations of it being played, usually in domestic surroundings.

By the early years of this century, Ping-Pong had already acquired some of its present day complexities, though it was still seen by many as an after -dinner amusement rather than a sport. An account published in 1903 found it necessary to warn against wearing a dress suit and stiff shirt-or, for ladies, a white satin gown-but went on to give detailed technical advice about pimpled rubber, the penholder grip and tactics.

The game was popular in Central Europe in 1905-10, and even before this is a modified version had been introduced to Japan , where it later spread to China and Korea.

After a period when it had dropped out of favor in Europe, the game was revived in England and Wales in the early twenties. by that time 'Ping-Pong' had been registered as a trademark, so the earlier name of table tennis was re-introduced. National associations were formed and standardization of the rules began, both in Europe and the Far East.
Then, over the next sixty years, table tennis developed into a major worldwide sport, played by perhaps thirty million competitive players and by uncountable millions who play less seriously. However, the game itself has not changed in essence since its earliest days, though it is faster, more subtle and more demanding than it was even only twenty years ago. a constant concern of the ITTF has always been to insure that table tennis remains a contest of human skills and that technological developments which add a new factor to the game do not give too great an advantage to the players who have the first opportunity of making use of them. Thus, equipment specifications are carefully laid down, and rigorously enforced.

Other changes-a lowering of the net, a rule to avoid protracted games between defensive players, and rules preventing excessive advantage being gained by the server-were introduced in the thirties and further minor changes are made from time to time. Changes to the rules of the sport can only be made only at the ITTF's Biennial General Meeting, and are never made without the agreement of a substantial majority of the hundred or so member Associations represented at the BGM, all of whom have an equal vote.

Modern table tennis at national and international level is a rigorous as any sport in its demands for the highest degree of physical fitness and mental concentration, attained only by arduous training to develop natural skill. Fred Perry, World Men's Singles Table Tennis Champion in 1928-29, later achieved even greater fame at Wimbledon; perhaps it would not be quite true to say that he moved to the larger court when his play became too slow for the table, but it is certainly true that no sport requires faster reactions and more delicate muscular co-ordination than table tennis.

Athletes are consistently looking for a shoe that offers the "perfect fit." However, because all feet are different, performance shoes of the past have not been able to offer this individualized customization. Reebok’s team of scientists and engineers discovered that for most foot types, 5 PSI is the optimal pressure point when a form fitting custom fit is achieved. To take off the Pump 2.0, the athlete simply needs to press the "smart valve." The valve releases the air to loosen the shoe.

The Pump 2.0 also features DMX Shear cushioning technology which provides horizontal cushioning to help lessen and distribute the stress of runner’s heel strike. In Japanese hip-hop, dancing has been the center of the main cultrure, other than rapping, graffiti, and DJing. This is because dancing has a visual impact so everyone can uderstand, when it comes to dance there is not a language barrier. Before Hip hop was introduced to Japan, there was soul dancing, the heart of a revolution of ongoing dance. Soul dancing was introduced to Japan through such shows as Soul Train in the 1970s. I would say this soul dancing played a role as foundation that enabled Japanese people to learn and accept black or street dance culture. Hip hop dance culture in Japan started after the movie "Flashdace" appeared to the public in summer of 1983 though some people had already known about it and started doing it before. Although the movie was not about breaking (or b-boying), few seconds of kids doing elecric boogie and breaking on the street caught many Japanese people's attention. After Flashdance, many other movies followed such as "WILD STYLE", "BEAT STREET", "BREAKIN'", and "BREAKIN' 2". Rock Steady Crew came to Japan in 1983 and Boogal Shrimp A.K.A. Turbo from the movie "BREAKIN'" came to Japan and planted the seeds of hip-hop dancing in Japan. There were many breaking crews. Some crew such as Be-Bop Crew (Fukuoka area), Imperial JBs (Hakata), Angel Dust Breakers(Osaka), Osaka Gangstar(Osaka), and Be-Bop Crew Tokyo (Tokyo) represented each areas and got props among dancers. During this era, dancers such as Popping Pete and Sketer Rabbit from Electric Boogaloo, Booglaoo Shrimp (a.k.a Turbo from Movie "Breakin'), Boo-Ya Tribe, Popping Taco, and Rock Steady Crew came to Japan and inspired lots of Japanese dancers. Especially, Popping Pete and Sketer Rabbit were often invited to Osaka which make Osaka popular as a place having many good poppers. (When Mr.Wiggles came to Osaka in 96 of summer, he was so impressed about Osaka because he says he never seen one place has so many poppers like Osaka.)

New school hip-hop dancing era came with the boom of New Jack Swing music. This boom began in 1989 and 1990. The music video of artists such as Bobby Brown, Bell Biv Devoe, Heavy D, and M.C. Hammer proved that a new way of dance was coming alive and all of the young dancers were ready to explore this new form and make it real. You might remember that during this era, many rappers featured dancers. A local dance TV show called "DADA LMD" started in 1989. In comparison to the American Soul Train, there was a line dance at the end of the show. There were also the section of dance lesson introducing latest trendy steps instructed by regular dancers in the middle of the show. Later, these regular dancers made a debut as a singer and made commercial success. Also, there was another dance TV show called "Dance Dance Dance" . This show featured a dance contest competed by 4 group every week, and a special dance performance by the program's regular dancers called "Megamix". Since these two programs were local programs and also aired after midnight, the impact was not enough to create explosive boom of new dancing. The national TV show "Dance Koshien" started in 1989. This show was aired 8 o'clock on Sunday. This show is about street dance contest for high school students. (Actually, most of contestants appeared on TV were not high school students, though.) This show had a great impact on many young people that began to dance. Some people who made their appearance on Dance Koshien found their claim to fame. A group called "LL Brothers" was the most successful group from this show and became a singer later. The existence of these three dance programs show how much the popularity was big.

After this boom was over, many people stopped dancing. But at the same time, many still stayed in it. Combined with the people from old-school era (breaking era), these people brought the culture into next level. The street dancing became real culture not a trend.

Among Japanese dance kids, dancers appeared on music videos are hereos and role models. Dancers such as Link, Stretch, Loose Joint, Ejoe, Calief, Peek A Boo, Marquest, Kito, Rubberband, and Brian were well known dancers in Japan. The trend of dance style used to change really quickly around 1991. The dancers who gave influence to Japanese dancers at this time are Shake (NY), Fendy (NY), Soul Brothers (LA), Robert (LA) and Scheme Team (LA). The only way to get catch up this trend was to watch music video at that time. One of the video which had a greatest impact on dancers was Lalah Hathaway's "Baby Don't Cry" featuring Mop Top crew and some other dancers. After this video, many dancers started to pay attention to NY sophisticated dance style. Many people began to visit New York City to actually see these dancers. The Japanese pop music group "ZOO" featured these dancers for their video. The docmentally program about street dancers in NY "ALIVE TV:wreckin' shop from Brookyn" also gave a great infulence to dancers in Japan

Around 1992, some people realized the existence of other form of street dancing which is HOUSE dancing. The music video of Crystal Water's "Gypsy woman" is said to the first dance video featuring house dancers, Calief and Peter Paul. (Actually, in NY, house dancing had been around for a while before that video.) Then, House dancing developed so quickly and now it is established in Japan as a category of street dance as well as hip-hop, breaking, locking, and popping.

Although it is started as boom, now hip-hop is culture and getting real gradually in Japan. However, Japanese people have tendency to follow something new from the US. They think that's good because Americans do. They are crazy about buying expensive hip-hop gear such as Polo, DKNY, and Tommy because famous dancers in NY wear. This tendency has kept Japanese hip-hop culture from getting real. The language barrier is also the problem. Since most of them don't understand What KRS-one is saying on the SOURCE magazine, they can not help depending on visual information so much that the culture is easy to be superficial. Since Hip Hop can be said a black culture, people think it is dope to dance like black people or even act like black, which is not real point of hip hop culture. Howerver, it is true that the way Japanese enjoy the beat and the culture is almost exactly same as people in America. And Japanese people start understanding the significance of hip-hop and lifestyle gradually and trying to create their own hip hop.

The Life of Helen Keller

Helen Keller was a child in darkness who discovered a new world through the eyes and ears of others. Quotes are from Helen and Teacher, by Joseph P. Lash, a definitive work on Helen Keller.

Birth--She was born June 27, 1880 in Tuscumbia, Alabama. Her father, Captain Arthur H. Keller, had fought with the Confederate army at Vicksburg. He edited a news weekly and was periodically a US Marshall. Her mother was Captain Keller's second wife and had been raised in the social circles of Memphis. Both were consummate southerners.

The dark comes--Helen was a bright and lively infant, but at the age of 19 months she had a fever which left her blind and deaf. There has never been a precise diagnosis for the type and cause of the fever. Helen had a distant memory of what light was like from her time before the fever came. Also, she had begun to make sounds before the fever and had remembered the word "wah-wah" for water. This was a foreshadowing, for water was to be the key to her world of language.

I cannot remember how I felt when the light went out of my eyes. I suppose I felt it was always night and perhaps I wondered why the day did not come. --Helen Keller

The coming of teacher--The Kellers sought advice and remedies for Helen. As she approached the age of 7, they visited Alexander Graham Bell in Washington D.C. because he was an activist in deaf education. Bell recommended the Perkins School for the Blind in Boston. A recent graduate of the school, Anne Sullivan, also known as Annie, was offered the position of tutor. In March, 1887, Annie arrived in Tuscumbia to live with the Kellers as governess.

The wild thing--Helen had learned to communicate many of her wishes with various signs--there were some 60 gestures she had invented to ask for things or identify people. But she was otherwise frustrated in her attempts to communicate, and her frustration led to behavior problems. She would kick and fuss and demand her own way, even though there was a lovable streak in the child.

I saw clearly that it was useless to try to teach her language or anything else until she learned to obey me. I have thought about it a great deal, and the more I think, the more certain I am that obedience is the gateway through which knowledge, yes, and love, too, enter the mind of a child. --Anne Sullivan

Obedience first--Annie became a live-in teacher. She immediately began to use finger spelling in Helen's hand to name objects. Helen quickly learned the finger-spell patterns but considered them a game and did not yet relate them to names for objects. She also did not accept her teacher's authority and continued with her wild ravings. For a time, Annie and Helen lived in a separate house away from the family, because of Annie's concerns about family interference in her attempts to create structure. Eventually, the behavior problems were brought under control, but Helen still did not understand words.

Water--The communication breakthrough came with a trip to the well. Helen had been learning the finger spell patterns for W-A-T-E-R and M-U-G, but she still did not relate them to a liquid and its container. Later, when they were walking by the well house, Annie placed Helen's hand under the water coming from the pump and spelled W-A-T-E-R. Suddenly Helen had a realization. The cool liquid coming from the pump had a name. There were names for everything.

Helen got up this morning like a radiant fairy. She has flitted from object to object, asking the name of everything and kissing me for very gladness. Last night when I got into bed, she stole into my arms of her own accord and kissed me for the first time, and I thought my heart would burst, so full was it of joy. --Anne Sullivan

Learning words--By the summer of 1887, some four months after Annie arrived, and as Helen approached her seventh birthday, sheP had a vocabulary numbering hundreds of words, and was forming simple sentences. Much of her communication was by finger spelling, but she had also learned the shapes of letters.

Learning to write--During the summer of 1887 she could print using block letters. To write she used a grooved writing board that was placed over a sheet of paper. Helen wrote the letters in the grooves, writing with a pencil and guiding the end of the pencil with the index finger of her left hand. She began to mail letters to her relatives. That same summer Helen also learned the Braille alphabet.

Perkins School--In the spring of 1888, as Helen approached 8 years old she left Alabama with Annie to go to the Perkins School in Boston. This was the first of several trips to the school. Helen was exposed to a wonderful array of resources and her abilities increased. She learned quickly and had an exceptional memory for details. Her capacity for quick learning and retention gave her the name of "miracle" child.

Learning foreign languages--It was during this summer that Helen learned about other languages such as Latin, French and German. She soon was peppering her writing with phrases from these languages.

Learning to speak--In her ninth year , Helen Keller began to learn to speak. Her first speech teacher, Sarah Fuller, had her feel the shape of her mouth as she spoke, feeling inside the mouth to feel the position of the tongue. Helen then shaped the sounds on her own. First she learned to say letter sounds, then syllables. At first her speech was difficult to understand. She spent many years trying to perfect her speaking ability, even into adulthood.

Reading lips--As she learned to speak, she also learned to read lips with her fingers. This was a brand new form of communication that Helen began to use immediately.

Helen's character--Helen spent a life in helping others. She had boundless energy. Many noted her kindness, generosity and enthusiasm. She thought the best of people and typically brought out the best. She had numerous friends, and an endless communication with dignitaries around the world, but she never lost a sense of true empathy for the poor of the world--for the disabled.

Helen enters Radcliffe College

Helen moved on to the Cambridge School for Young Ladies in 1896 and in the Autumn of 1900 entered Radcliffe College, becoming the first deafblind person to have ever enrolled at an institution of higher learning.
Life at Radcliffe was very difficult for Helen and Anne, and the huge amount of work involved led to deterioration in Anne’s eyesight. During their time at the College Helen began to write about her life. She would write the story both in braille and on a normal typewriter. It was at this time that Helen and Anne met with John Albert Macy who was to help edit Helen’s first book “The Story of My Life” which was published in 1903 and although it sold poorly at first it has since become a classic.
On 28 June 1904 Helen graduated from Radcliffe College, becoming the first deafblind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree.
John Macy became good friends with Helen and Anne, and in May 1905 John and Anne were married. Anne’s name now changed to Anne Sullivan Macy. The three lived together in Wrentham, Massachusetts, and during this time Helen wrote “The World I Live In”, revealing for the first time her thoughts on her world. It was also during this time that John Macy introduced her to a new and revolutionary way of viewing the world. And in 1909 Helen became a member of the Socialist Party of Massachusetts.
In 1913 “Out of the Dark” was published. This was a series of essays on socialism and its impact on Helen’s public image was immense. Everyone now knew Helen’s political views.
Helen tours the World
Helen and Anne filled the following years with lecture tours, speaking of her experiences and beliefs to enthralled crowds. Her talks were interpreted sentence by sentence by Anne Sullivan, and were followed by question and answer sessions.
Although Helen and Anne made a good living from their lectures, by 1918 the demand for Helen’s lectures had diminished and they were touring with a more light-hearted vaudeville show, which demonstrated Helen’s first understanding of the word “water”. These shows were hugely successful from the very first performance, a review of which read as follows:
“Helen Keller has conquered again, and the Monday afternoon audience at the Palace, one of the most critical and cynical in the World, was hers.”
At this time they were also offered the chance to make a film in Hollywood and they jumped at the opportunity. “Deliverance”, the story of Helen’s life, was made. Helen was, however, unhappy with the glamorous nature of the film and it unfortunately did not prove to be the financial success that they had hoped for.
The vaudeville appearances continued with Helen answering a wide range of questions on her life and her politics and Anne translating Helen’s answers for the enthralled audience. They were earning up to two thousand dollars a week, which was a considerable sum of money at the time.
In 1918 Helen, Anne and John moved to Forest Hills in New York. Helen used their new home as a base for her extensive fundraising tours for the American Foundation for the Blind. She not only collected money, but also campaigned tirelessly to alleviate the living and working conditions of blind people, who at that time were usually badly educated and living in asylums. Her endeavours were a major factor in changing these conditions.
Helen’s mother Kate died in 1921 from an unknown illness, and this left Anne as the sole constant in Helen’s life. However that same year Anne fell ill again and this was followed in 1922 by a severe bout of bronchitis which left her unable to speak above a whisper and thus unable to work with Helen on stage anymore. At this point Polly Thomson, who had started working for Helen and Anne in 1914 as a secretary, took on the role of explaining Helen to the theatre going public.
They also spent a lot of time touring the world raising money for blind people. In 1931 they met King George and Queen Mary at Buckingham Palace, who were said to be deeply impressed by Helen’s ability to understand what people said through touch.
All the while Anne’s health was getting worse, and with the news of the death of John Macy in 1932, although their marriage had broken up some years before, her spirit was finally broken. She died on 20 October 1936.
When Anne died, Helen and Polly moved to Arcan Ridge, in Westport, Connecticut, which would be Helen’s home for the rest of her life.
After World War II, Helen and Polly spent years travelling the world fundraising for the American Foundation for the Overseas Blind. They visited Japan, Australia, South America, Europe and Africa.
Whilst away during this time Helen and Polly learnt of the fire that destroyed their home at Arcan Ridge. Although the house would be rebuilt, as well as the many mementoes that Helen and Polly lost, also destroyed was the latest book that Helen had been working on about Anne Sullivan, called “Teacher”.
It was also during this time that Polly Thomson’s health began to deteriorate and whilst in Japan she had a mild stroke. Doctors advised Polly to stop the continuous touring she and Helen did, and although initially they slowed down a bit, the touring continued once Polly had recovered.
In 1953 a documentary film “The Unconquered” was made about Helen’s life, this was to win an Academy Award as the best feature length documentary .It was at the same time that Helen began work again on her book “Teacher”, some seven years after the original had been destroyed. The book was finally published in 1955.
Polly Thomson had a stroke in 1957, she was never to fully recover and died on March 21, 1960. Her ashes were deposited at the National Cathedral in Washington DC next to those of Anne Sullivan. It was the nurse who had been brought in to care for Polly in her last years, Winnie Corbally, who was to take care of Helen in her remaining years.
The Miracle Worker
It was in 1957 that “The Miracle Worker” was first performed. A drama portraying Anne Sullivan’s first success in communicating with Helen as a child, it first appeared as a live television play in the United States.
In 1959 it was re-written as a Broadway play and opened to rave reviews. It became a smash hit and ran for almost two years. In 1962 it was made into a film and the actresses playing Anne and Helen both received Oscars for their performances.
Helen retires from public life
In October 1961 Helen suffered the first of a series of strokes, and her public life was to draw to a close. She was to spend her remaining years being cared for at her home in Arcan Ridge.
Her last years were not however without excitement, and in 1964 Helen was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian award, by President Lyndon Johnson. A year later she was elected to the Women’s Hall of Fame at the New York World’s Fair.
On June 1, 1968, at Arcan Ridge, Helen Keller died peacefully in her sleep. Helen was cremated in Bridgeport, Connecticut and a funeral service was held at the National Cathedral in Washington DC where the urn containing her ashes would later be deposited next to those of Anne Sullivan and Polly Thomson.
Helen’s legacy
Today Helen’s final resting place is a popular tourist attraction and the bronze plaque erected to commemorate her life has the following inscription written in braille:
“Helen Keller and her beloved companion Anne Sullivan Macy are interred in the columbarium behind this chapel.”
So many people have visited the chapel, and touched the braille dots, that the plaque has already had to be replaced twice.
If Helen Keller were born today her life would undoubtedly have been completely different. Her life long dream was to be able to talk, something that she was never really able to master. Today the teaching methods exist that would have helped Helen to realise this dream. What would Helen have made of the technology available today to blind and deafblind individuals? Technology that enables blind and deafblind people, like Helen, to communicate directly, and independently, with anybody in the world.
Helen Keller may not have been directly responsible for the development of these technologies and teaching methods. But with the help of Anne Sullivan, through her writings, lectures and the way she lived her life, she has shown millions of people that disability need not be the end of the world.
In Helen’s own words:
“The public must learn that the blind man is neither genius nor a freak nor an idiot. He has a mind that can be educated, a hand which can be trained, ambitions which it is right for him to strive to realise, and it is the duty of the public to help him make the best of himself so that he can win light through work.”

Helen falls ill

But Helen’s life was to change dramatically. In February 1882, when Helen was nineteen months old, she fell ill. To this day the nature of her ailment remains a mystery. The doctors of the time called it “brain fever”, whilst modern day doctors think it may have been scarlet fever or meningitis.

Whatever the illness, Helen was, for many days, expected to die. When, eventually, the fever subsided, Helen’s family rejoiced believing their daughter to be well again.

However, Helen’s mother soon noticed how her daughter was failing to respond when the dinner bell was rang or when she passed her hand in front of her daughter’s eyes.

It thus became apparent that Helen’s illness had left her both blind and deaf.
The following few years proved very hard for Helen and her family. Helen became a very difficult child, smashing dishes and lamps and terrorising the whole household with her screaming and temper tantrums. Relatives regarded her as a monster and thought she should be put into an institution.

By the time Helen was six her family had become desperate. Looking after Helen was proving too much for them. Kate Keller had read in Charles Dickens’ book “American Notes” of the fantastic work that had been done with another deaf and blind child, Laura Bridgman, and travelled to a specialist doctor in Baltimore for advice. They were given confirmation that Helen would never see or hear again but were told not to give up hope, the doctor believed Helen could be taught and he advised them to visit a local expert on the problems of deaf children. This expert was Alexander Graham Bell, the inventor of the telephone, Bell was now concentrating on what he considered his true vocation, the teaching of deaf children.

Alexander Graham Bell suggested that the Kellers write to Michael Anagnos, director of the Perkins Institution and Massachusetts Asylum for the Blind, and request that he try and find a teacher for Helen. Michael Anagnos considered Helen’s case and immediately recommended a former pupil of the institution, that woman was Anne Sullivan.
Anne Sullivan

Anne Sullivan had lost the majority of her sight at the age of five. By the age of ten, her mother had died and her father deserted her. She and her brother Jimmie were sent to the poorhouse in February 1876.

Anne’s brother died in the poorhouse. It was October 1880 before Anne finally left and went to commence her education at the Perkins Institution. One summer during her time at the institute, Anne had two operations on her eyes, which led to her regaining enough sight to be able to read normal print for short periods of time.
Anne graduated from Perkins in 1886 and began to search for work. Finding work was terribly difficult for Anne, due to her poor eyesight, and when she received the offer from Michael Anagnos to work as the teacher of Helen Keller, a deaf-blind mute, although she had no experience in this area, she accepted willingly.
Helen meets Anne
On 3 March 1887 Anne arrived at the house in Tuscumbia and for the first time met Helen Keller. Anne immediately started teaching Helen to finger spell. Spelling out the word “Doll” to signify a present she had brought with her for Helen. The next word she taught Helen was “Cake”. Although Helen could repeat these finger movements she could not quite understand what they meant. And while Anne was struggling trying to help her understand, she was also struggling to try and control Helen’s continuing bad behaviour.

Anne and Helen moved into a small cottage on the land of the main house to try and get Helen to improve her behaviour. Of particular concern were Helen’s table manners. She had taken to eating with her hands and from the plates of everyone at the table.

Anne’s attempts to improve Helen’s table manners and make her brush her own hair and button her shoes led to more and more temper tantrums. Anne punished these tantrums by refusing to “talk” with Helen by spelling words on her hands.

Over the coming weeks, however, Helen’s behaviour did begin to improve as a bond grew between the two. Then, after a month of Anne’s teaching, what the people of the time called a “miracle” occurred.
Helen had until now not yet fully understood the meaning of words. When Anne led her to the water pump on 5 April 1887, all that was about to change.

As Anne pumped the water over Helen’s hand , Anne spelled out the word water in the girl’s free hand. Something about this explained the meaning of words within Helen, and Anne could immediately see in her face that she finally understood.

Helen later recounted the incident:
“We walked down the path to the well-house, attracted by the fragrance of the honey-suckle with which it was covered. Someone was drawing water and my teacher placed my hand under the spout. As the cool stream gushed over one hand she spelled into the other the word water, first slowly, then rapidly. I stood still, my whole attention fixed upon the motions of her fingers. Suddenly I felt a misty consciousness as of something forgotten, a thrill of returning thought, and somehow the mystery of language was revealed to me.”

Helen immediately asked Anne for the name of the pump to be spelt on her hand and then the name of the trellis. All the way back to the house Helen learned the name of everything she touched and also asked for Anne’s name. Anne spelled the name “Teacher” on Helen’s hand. Within the next few hours Helen learnt the spelling of thirty new words.

Helen’s progress from then on was astonishing. Her ability to learn was far in advance of anything that anybody had seen before in someone without sight or hearing. It wasn’t long before Anne was teaching Helen to read, firstly with raised letters and later with braille, and to write with both ordinary and braille typewriters.

Michael Anagnos was keen to promote Helen, one of the numerous articles on her that he wrote said of Helen that “she is a phenomenon”. These articles led to a wave of publicity about Helen with pictures of her reading Shakespeare or stroking her dog appearing in national newspapers.

Helen had become famous, and as well as again visiting Alexander Graham Bell, she visited President Cleveland at the White House. By 1890 she was living at the Perkins Institute and being taught by Anne. In March of that year Helen met Mary Swift Lamson who over the coming year was to try and teach Helen to speak. This was something that Helen desperately wanted and although she learned to understand what somebody else was saying by touching their lips and throat, her efforts to speak herself proved at this stage to be unsuccessful. This was later attributed to the fact that Helen’s vocal chords were not properly trained prior to her being taught to speak.
The Frost King

On 4 November 1891 Helen sent Michael Anagnos a birthday gift of a short story she had written called “The Frost King”. Anagnos was so delighted with the story that he had soon published it in a magazine hailing its importance in literary history.

However, it was soon discovered that Helen’s story was the same as one called “The Frost Fairies” by Margaret Canby. This was ultimately to be the end of Helen and Anne’s friendship with Michael Anagnos. He felt he had been made to appear foolish by what he considered to be Helen’s deception.

There had to be an investigation and it was discovered that Helen had previously been read the story some years before and had obviously remembered it. Helen always claimed not to recall the original story and it should always be remembered that Helen was still only 11 years old, however, this incident created a rift that would never heal between Helen, Anne and Anagnos. It also created great doubt in Helen’s own mind as to whether any of her thoughts were truly her own.

In 1894 Helen and Anne met John D Wright and Dr Thomas Humason who were planning to set up a school to teach speech to the deaf in New York City. Helen and Anne were very excited by this and the assurances of the two men that Helen’s speech could be improved excited them further. Helen thus agreed to attend the Wright-Humason School for the Deaf.

Unfortunately though, Helen’s speech never really improved beyond the sounds that only Anne and others very close to her could understand.

“The tragedy of 1914 is that the most backward or politically bankrupt parts of Europe, through the alliance system, dragged the most advanced parts into ruin.”

In the years preceding the outbreak of World War I, Europe found itself tangled in an intricate web of friendship and mistrust. The infamous alliance system that had developed among the rival military camps has been held largely responsible for causing the war. Closer inspection suggests that war might have been averted, or at least once more postponed, as had been the case in recent memory, through such crisis as the Balkan Wars. Averting the war was not to be, however, and the third crisis in the Balkans proved to be the fatal blow to peace. The sequence of events leading to the rapid succession of war declarations has been well documented, but what is less commonly known is that though Germany is generally considered to be the primary aggressor in the war, it was actually Austria’s declaration of war upon Serbia, and Russia’s subsequent declaration upon Austria that precipitated the involvement of France and Great Britain, and thus Germany’s entry into the fray to honor its pact with Austria.

Quite a query arises from more significant inspection of the comparative statuses of these European powers. Why were Russia and Austria so willing to embark upon such obviously foolish courses in response to the events in Sarajevo? Russia’s pride had been repeatedly wounded in the fallout from the Balkan Wars, and understandably would not want to default on expectations to come to the aid of its Slavic brethren. Austria, on the other hand, demanded an end to the undermining of its existence by Serbian nationalism, that great ghost of the nineteenth century. At first, both of these considerations appear to be logical; neither power would want to lose face. However, both also knew the dangers of actual military confrontation, due to the web of alliances, which would almost certainly embroil the whole of Europe in war. In truth, Austria was on the further end of its former glory as a real power in Europe, worn as it was in the fading days of King Francis Joseph’s 68 year reign. Similarly, Russia was a disorganized and mismanaged expanse of a nation ruled by an autocratic regime strangely out of place in comparison to the much more moderate rulers of the other European states. Possibly, both Austria’s and Russia’s comparative weakness led both to act more carelessly than prudence would have dictated. Expecting the assistance from their allies, Russia and Austria went to war and dragged all of Europe with them.

Question 3. “Why did Otto von Bismarck’s alliance system fail?”
Otto von Bismarck was probably the greatest diplomat (or manipulator of diplomacy) of the nineteenth century, but even in his mastery he could not have foreseen the destructive consequences of the inevitable misuse of his alliance system. Following the formative years of the modern German state, in which Chancellor Bismarck helped to create a unified and stronger state, Bismarck saw fit to best serve German interest by pursuing a policy of peace. Perceiving that Germany’s unification presented a problem to the traditional European balance of power, Bismarck felt it necessary to forge alliances with key states, in order to protect the newly united Germany. In 1879, Austria-Hungary and Germany signed a pact of mutual defense, stating that if either state were under attack by two or more states, the other would assist with military force.
The failure of this alliance system surfaced in the years immediately preceding World War I, as the powers no longer used the alliances as a means of mutual defense, but instead as a means of mutual aggravation and aggression. The most obvious example involves the circumstances leading to the War’s outbreak: the assassination in Sarajevo. With Austria and Russia both counting on the support of their allies, neither was as determined to keep the peace as they should have been. This was the natural result of applying the terms of the “defensive” alliances and using them to, instead, serve as threats backing up the demands of the government; in Austria’s case, this meant using threat of war with Germany as an argument for Russia to not intervene in Serbia; in Russia’s case, it meant that when Russia did defend Serbia, it would not have to face the Austrian (and German) counterattack alone, since it could count on both France and Great Britain to deflect significant portions of the counterattacks. By taking a defensive alliance system outside of the parameters for which it was originally created, Bismarck’s web of diplomacy had no chance of functioning, that is, to maintain the peace and prevent the war.

Question 5. In assessing the origin of the Weimar Republic (Germany 1919-1933), one noted historian has written: “All the elements that were later to amalgamate to destroy the new republic were there in 1920.” How accurate is the preceding statement? To what elements was the author of this statement referring?
For any number of reasons, the Weimar Republic, established in Germany following its surrender to the Allied Powers, failed to achieve a lasting stability and control over the nation. If not all of the elements that contributed to the fall of the Weimar Republic were yet present at the time of its convening, those elements were not long in arising. Indeed, any consideration an element might receive for helping to bring down the government must be seen in light of the fact that, as the Republic lasted only about fourteen years, those elements must have been present from close to the very beginning if they were to have much impact in the republic’s eventual demise at all.

So what were these contributing factors that so swiftly undercut the position of the Weimar Republic, leaving it ripe for the rise of Hitler’s authoritarian regime? A very basic principle that could be easily overlooked today, in our democratic era, is that the vast majority of German people did not want a democratic form of government. Instead, the victorious Allied Powers forced it upon them. In addition, this unwanted democratic government had the painful duty of signing the Treaty of Versailles, which was by no means a task desired by anyone in the government. That the Social Democrats were the actual signatories of the hated document added another layer of contempt to the peoples’ perception of the democratic government. It was no accident, either, that this was the result; the leaders of the Army avoided the shameful distinction of being signatories by deferring such an “honor” to the leading party of the Reichstag, the Social Democrats.

In addition to the whole debacle that was the Treaty of Versailles, further elements with which the Republic had to contend included: a bleak economic outlook, due to the crippling load of reparation payments to the Allies; the prevailing belief among the people that Germany really was not responsible for the war, which was partly true, since Austria played the most active role of dragging Germany into it (though not unwillingly); and the failure of the Republic to initiate reforms which would have helped to solidify their efforts to forge a new direction in government, away from the old monarchic ways of the Hohenzollern Empire. Failing to combat these factors, when possible, or if possible, contributed to the weakening of support for the Weimar Republic, leading to its eventual demise.

Question 8. “At what point did Europe reach the place where the Second World War was inevitable? Explain.”
Under the terms of the Treaty of Versailles, Germany was to have standing armed forces reduced to inconsequential numbers, so that France and the rest of Europe need not fear another effort by Germany to overrun the continent. The terms of the treaty, however, did not provide for the rise of Adolph Hitler. With his ascent to power, Hitler brought a whole new agenda to the fore of German foreign policy. Thoroughly repulsed by Germany’s defeat in the First World War, Hitler felt that it was his responsibility to restore Germany to glory. One hurdle he had to clear was the Treaty of Versailles, which he did by ignoring the restrictions on military forces and rearming. Now that Germany once again had a military, it became possible to have war.

However, the mere existence of a military does not automatically create a state of war. Arriving at that juncture was primarily the work of Hitler, as he challenged the reluctant former Allied Powers through a series of actions. When Germany reoccupied the Rhineland, an area demilitarized under the Treaty of Versailles, Great Britain and France objected, but did not object to the point of confrontation. Hitler challenged Allied resolve again in the coming years, through his actions involving the annexations of Austria and of the Sudetenland from Czechoslovakia. Following the lead of Neville Chamberlain, the Allies willingness to appease Hitler seemed to be rivaled only by Hitler’s willingness to demand more concessions. As a result, war became inevitable. Hitler’s appetite knew no bounds, and as a result, he pressed the issue more and more often, until he actually invaded Poland to begin the Second World War.

Question 6. “How and why did the Soviet Union emerge as a threat to the security of Western Europe and the western world in general after 1945? What steps were taken by western nations to counter this threat? What leadership role did the United States play in this area?”

Two nations arose from the aftermath of World War II having attained statuses as superpower nations: the United States and the Soviet Union. Immediately, a rivalry sprang forth between the two, as both sought to be dominant in the realms of foreign and economic policy. The rivalry did not end here, though, as it also bred fear of the other’s military power. This fear, a central theme throughout the Cold War, was a driving factor in the continuous quest for security for the next forty-plus years after 1945. More than any other single factor contributing to this widespread concern about the Soviet Union, to the United States and its western European allies, was the USSR’s successful development and testing of the atomic bomb by 1949. Immediately, the quest for security against the other superpower forced the United States and Soviet Union to each pursue a program of massive nuclear stockpiling. An effect of this, whether intended or not, was that a stasis developed, such that the nuclear weapons had become a deterrent of actual military confrontation between the two superpowers, due to a mutually assured destruction of likely global import.

In addition to the entire nuclear weapon plight, Western Europe found that having the Soviet Union in such close proximity, with its substantial standing army, presented new security issues that required address. To counter any possible Soviet threats to the Continent, western nations formed the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). NATO operated, initially, under predominantly American forces in Europe, as the European states were still in the process of recovering from the war, including rebuilding their military strength. In addition to the protection afforded by the American presence in NATO, the United States helped to reconstruct the shambles of the devastated European economies, via the Marshall Plan. Finally, in order to solidify and direct the focus of American foreign policy, the Truman Doctrine plotted the United States on a mission to combat the spread of communism on a global scale. The History of the Land

The Age of Darkness: For many races, this era is seen as the age of darkness. Humans lived in small village that were spread throughout 'their' lands. They had no government, nor any sort of defense from the wilder races. Often, fights would break out between villages over land and food disputes. For the Elves, this was a time of healing and culture. In -170, the Elven nation and the Birdman tribes united in a lasting peace that was beneficial for both. Most of the forests on the main Continent become their combined territory, and ideas were freely exchanged between the two races. The wolfen and Centaurs were little more than nomads, raiding the countryside for their needs. It was said that to come across a tribe of wolfen meant sure death. No one survived their attacks, and those that did were hunted down with an almost uncanny ability and destroyed. The T'skrang were limited to the Serpent River, where they lived in peace an isolation, developing their own arts and skills.

The Age of Growth: The humans, tired of the constant strife and fear, began to develop treaties and agreements amongst themselves. One government was decided upon and the great hero Ullis became their first King. Small villages grew into larger towns, and in 49 AD, work on Igros Castle began. In 32 AD; the Elves began construction of the great city Silvermoon. The T'skrang developed their cities both above and below the waters of the great river. In 48 AD, an Elven expedition discovered a wolfen city, the news of which spread like wildfire, causing panic through the Elf and Birdman nation.

The humans began to move into the mountains to mine, so that work on Igros Castle could be completed. It is at this time that first contact was made with the Dwarves.

A treaty of cooperation is signed with the underground Dwarven nation. Thane, a T'skrang captain, decided to leave the river and sail the open seas. Thane is credited with discovering the human port of Warjilis and made first contact with the humans. Most humans were in awe of the grand T'skrang ships, as well as the fine art and craft work of this strange race.

An Elven exploration party discovered a Centaur Town. Since Centaurs were thought to only be nomadic, this discovery came as a shock to the Elven nation. A noble birdman, known as Skylar, flies to this town to make first official contact with the Centaurs.

Trade agreements are made between the T'skrang and the humans. Thane also discovers this Centaur town and begins to negotiate trade agreements with them. King Ullis and the dwarves finish work on Igros Castle, and begin to construct a vast walled city around the castle. Wolfen attacks are rare, causing many to wonder what they are planning.

Talks between the birdmen and the Centaurs do not go well, and end in a signing of a nonaggression pact. Thane signs a trade agreement with the Centaurs creating the first major T'skrang trade route, names Thane's golden way. Solis becomes the first human ambassador to the T'skrang nation.

The mining operations of the humans and dwarves come to a stop as their mining camps are being mysteriously destroyed. Parties of warriors are sent into the mountains, returning with frightening tales of living rocks that killed without mercy. War breaks out between the humans and this 'new' race of rockmen.

The war with the Obsidimen, as they have been named, ends through the actions of one Obsidiman warrior, Peron. Peron's refusal to destroy a human camp filled with civilians changes how many view these 'creatures' and talks begin. By the end of the year, the war ends, but no agreements are made.

Warjilis and Dorter continue to grow. There are very few human villages left that have not become towns or cities

A final treaty is signed between the Obsidimen and the Dwarves and Humans. Thane, ever the opportunists, begins trade talks with the Obsidimen.

Thane finally creates a trade agreement with the Obsidimen. Igros City continues to grow. King Ullis dies, and his daughter, Queen Elaine, takes the throne. A pompous and vain woman throughout her youth, many fear that she will destroy all the Ullis built.

An attempt to dethrone Elaine fails. However, this attempt brings out the best in Elaine as she proves herself to be both cunning and just.

Elven explorers have managed to map most of the northern lands. 4 more Wolfen towns are discovered, but no attempts are made to contact them.

Peaceful routine is common throughout all of the races. Elaine marries her advisor, Thomas. Elaine calls a special meeting with Thane, and plans for colonization are formed. This event is called both 'Eliane's Great Accomplishment', and 'Elaine's Worst Mistake'.

With the help of the T'skrang nation, the dwarf/human nation begins to expand to nearby islands and other parts of the main continent. Outposts are created with the end goal of to have them become full cities. The Elves and Birdmen begin to watch these movements outward closely, but refuse to get involved in any way.

The outpost Yarrow discovers a race calling themselves Windlings in the Jungles to the north. Many are surprised by the intelligence of these small creatures, who quickly take a liking to the cities of the humans and dwarves.

The colonization continues. More outposts are created as the old ones grow into cities.

Elaine orders roads to be built to connect the outpost towns. Vast resources are tied up in this project.

The Obsidimen begin construction on passes through the mountains. The gateways are created. They are 3 almost identical cities that are built into the mountain face. This is also the year that Thane, the great explorer, passes away in his sleep.

Most of the roads are complete. Elaine passes away, and her son Ingle takes the throne.

The great city Silvermoon is completed. Ingle orders more outposts to be built, but not on the main continent. Ingle convinces his advisors that it was Elaine's dying wish to see the nation move across the ocean.

Outpost Corynth is created. Human explorers discover Silvermoon and are awed by its grand scale. Made completely of quartz and crystal, it shines not nothing they have ever seen before. However, all attempts to contact the Elves are refused.

Corynth is destroyed by the Wolfen nation who are outraged by the human 'attack' on their land. The age of growth ends, and the age of war begins.

It is discovered that the Wolfen and Centaurs have been allied for years, and that the Centaurs have been supplying the Wolfen with knowledge gained by Thane's Golden Way. Deep shame falls upon the Elven nation, for they surmise that the Wolfen towns were a ploy to create a sense of ease amongst the other races. United bands of Wolfen across the land begin to attack en masse. Many fear them unbeatable.

The war seems to have no end. Fighting occurs on all continents. Ingle begs for help from the Obsidimen and is angered when they refuse to give any aid. All Obsidimen withdraw from the cities, and head back into the mountains, simply stating "It is not our time." Many small villages fall to the Wolfen, though none are destroyed.

Many people might start out an "Intro to Harry Potter" by probably giving you a summary about the first book, but not me. Nope. No siree! Not when I've had my coffee and iced apple juice and blinked at the computer screen several ten hundred times! No, I'm giving you the low down about Harry Potter and that's the main fact!

< >Once you have read Harry Potter, you will realize that Harry Potter is a name that will always be with you, for your whole life, no matter where you go, or how you live your life. Harry Potter will always be there, having an impact on your life.

< >You see, Harry Potter is not just a regular, common name, but the name of an amazing person, full of bravery, courage, fear, love, confusion, knowledge, and understanding. Despite being a fictional character, he is the kind of person you can just fall in love with by just reading about his courage, bravery, humor, and everything about him that makes him special and unique.

< >The mystery and magic about Harry is hypnotic and indulging (though, of course not evil and/or satanic). You can't not fall in love with him, as you wait - eagerly anticipating his next adventures, feeling his emotions, laughing along with jokes, and just feeling satisfied when you close the book. That is what a truly classical and historical book is and Harry Potter is truly classical and historical.

< >Harry is also quite brave, though he still has fear, which every "hero" - if you will use that word to explain him - needs. We need a hero we can respect, not buy action figure of. I'm hoping to everything possible we won't see action figures, but I have heard on the run-a-round that we might just see them.

· Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (title confirmed in October 2000 to NBC), or Book 5, will be released somewhere between February and July 2003. Ms. Rowling and her publishers stated that Book 5 would NOT come out at any time in 2001, for reference.
· Making a return is Remus J. Lupin. Cool, no? His appearance will probably be only a short one, though, unfortunately.

· We will learn more about the history of Lily Evans-Potter. We may learn about her life at home with sister Petunia Evans-Dursley, and as well at Hogwarts.
· A fan of Harry Potter will die. Colin or Dennis Creevey? Ginny Weasley? Perhaps even Rubeus Hagrid?

· We have it on good authority there will be a female DADA teacher this year.
· According to some sources, "older" and cherished characters will reappear in Phoenix.
· We will learn why Harry has to stay with the Dursleys during the summer all the time . . . er, at least parts of them . . . we learned a little about this at the end of Goblet of Fire; there is some form of protection around the house.

· Percy decides which side he's on - the Dark or the Light. Many believe he'll betray his family, so I guess that kind of shows what side he'll take.

· Ms. Arabella Figg (the lady with the cats who takes care of Harry on Dudley's birthday and other "family" events) is apparently, we assume, a witch. Part of the "old crowd" from Dumbledore's posse mention in Goblet, she may be of Harry's assistance in this book.< >In fact, she could very well be his own secret keeper, although people say she wouldn't be able to protect him single-handedly, especially if a lot of people recognize him on the street immediately. If you ask me, I think that Harry Poter is pretty darn valuable! Voldemort is capable of attacking Harry and he needs protection in any event. Ms. Figg may be a small or the entire part of that.

· Hermione will possibly - though more than likely - become a prefect, but we knew this was coming, didn't we? ::smirk::

· Icicle will not appear! Don't have a clue who Icicle is? Once thought of as Ron's cousin, later a sinister character, Icicle was actually rumoured to appear in Book 4, but didn't. Although J. K. Rowling laughs at the mention of Icicle, it is reported that due to a big accidental plot hole in Goblet of Fire, she was written out completely from the series and Rita Skeeter was written in.
· Definitely more to learn about Lily Potter's background and the importance of her eyes in relation to Harry's own.

· Places mentioned in previous books will be revealed.
· Not the ghost but the shadow of Cedric Diggory may play a significant role in helping Harry over the course of two challenges he must fight to overcome. - Top of Page –

· Harry Potter celebrates his 16th year of life.
· Fellow fan, King Toad, reports that he found out that Professor Quirrell's brother becomes the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher (you know, I knew it would become a trend of loosing DADA teachers . . .) and nobody likes him, "not even Malfoy." [Quirrell's brother] supposedly has come for revenge on Harry. CONTRADICTION We have a challenge to the above rumor! Please read as followed! Louisa C says: "Actually, it's not Quirrell's brother, but Lupin's. His name will be Romulus Lupin, (which would tie in with the ancient Roman legend that Rowling got Remus Lupin's name from.) He will also be a werewolf." < >My own thoughts? Bringing in the Romulus/Remus thing is just too cute; cool that Remus' name has basis in the legend, but bringing the legend to life is somewhat tacky. All rumours, though!
· Voldemort will still be around until the last book, since Harry reportedly tries to kill him (what an ambitious little boy he is!) and fails in

· It is a fact, unless J. K. Rowling changes it, that the last word of the book is "scar." (She said in an online chat that she has already written the last chapter of this book.)

· People are wondering if Harry Potter may pass into the wizarding world. That is to say, if he might even come of age - people are speculating that he may die! J. K. Rowling has even expressed interest in the fact that people believe he'll be alive for his eighteenth birthday. He may actually die.

· J. K. Rowling alluded to the possibility that Severus Snape will be redeemed and might fall in love (or might have fallen in love). I knew that already, huh? ::grins:: Click here to see what I mean. (The redemption is probably something besides or juxtaposed to being an ex-Death Eater and/or having to feign devotion to Lord Voldemort again.)

· Remus J. Lupin returns - this is supposedly confirmed by J. K. Rowling herself. He will have a bigger part here than in Book 5, also. (The Book 5 appearance is probably to be minimal and fleeting, though, of course, still important.)

· A VERY BIG revelation is made about Lily Potter - maybe that Voldemort is Harry's real father? ::cough:: Too many people have said that for me not to say it. :-) But do I believe it? Nope.

· Hermione will most likely be named Head Girl. (Well! That's a given in itself! :-)) Harry might also become Head Boy. (I'm not sure I believe this; it would kind of be a little cliched.) I think Draco Malfoy will become Head Boy, or someone else just as unexpected.

· Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy will not team up to fight an "evil force," despite my whining, desperate hopes and crazy dreams, J. K. Rowling said. She has shattered my delusions, I don't think I can recover!< >Opinion on the slide, I don't think Draco is a bad guy and I do not want him following his father's footsteps. I hope J. K. Tweety Bird was created by Warner Brother’s animation artist, Bob Clampett in 1942. Clampett was inspired by an embarrassing baby photo of himself and by his longstanding fascination with baby birds. Early model sheets indicated Tweety Bird’s original name was “Orson”. In Tweety Bird’s first cartoon, “A Tale of Two Kitties”, Tweety tantalized two cats, Babbitt and Catstello. The cartoon was a spoof on the popular comedy team, “Abbot and Costello”. Furthermore, Tweety Bird, the cute little canary with the big head, was originally pink. After censors complained that the bird looked naked because he had no feathers, Tweety Bird’s color was changed to yellow.Tweety Bird began his career independent of Sylvester the Cat, who was chasing birds and mice in his own cartoons under the direction of Friz Freleng. Clampett left Warner Brothers in 1947 with a fourth Tweety Bird cartoon in the early stages of production. Feeling wanted to have Sylvester the Cat pursue Tweety Bird, instead of a woodpecker used in an earlier Sylvester cartoon. General Producer, Eddie Seltzer, reportedly didn’t like the idea and ordered Feeling not to pair Sylvester with Tweety, but to instead use the woodpecker again. Sylvester the cat was created by Friz Freleng for the 1945 cartoon "Life With Feathers", in which a henpecked lovebird tries to commit suicide by having Sylvester eat him. Sylvester was designed to look like a clown, explaining the big red nose and low crotch, designed to look like a clown nose and baggy pants. The voice was that of Mel Blanc as Daffy Duck, only not sped up. In 1947, Sylvester was paired with an infamous character created by Bob Clampett, named Tweety Bird. In the first pairing, a cartoon called "Tweetie Pie", once again directed by Freleng, Sylvester is a jealous housecat, trying to eat Tweety, a concept which would continue for countless cartoons. Age 0, 1, 2, 3 unaware of things

Age 4, 5, 6 I remember going to province and my grandparents taking there every vacation. We often go to the park and camivals for special occasions like birthdays, Christmas and new year. I also learned to write on my own without anyone teaching me, I learned I through copying the strokes.

Age 7 I started to go to school even though I am always sick because of my weak lungs and asthmas.

Age 8 I remember at time when our study table at home fell on my feet and I can not walk. My parents brought me to the hospital and got my felt fixed. My father used to carry me then to attend school when my feet was not got well.

Age 9 I am starting to show my attitude of being talkative, I often run from my parents and teachers just to chat with my friends.

Age 10 I did my first punch with one of my classmates because I got mad at him for always teasing me.

Age 11 this is when I really suffered a lot of asthmas attack and began losing weight.

Age 12 I remember at school when my teacher asked me to listen to the lesson, I did not do what she said so she decided to not put me in the honor list.

Age 13 I refused to join the MISS UN contest because I don’t know how to do modeling stuff even if people tells me I am fit to a model.

Age 14 this is the age I had a lot of experiences being a teenager. I join a lot of activities in our school and I am very much committed to my best friend an Kristina that is why we always together wherever she go. She belongs to a rich family and she can afford to do anything she wants to enjoy when her family go outing she never forget to bring me. we also stayed in Manila Hotel fro 5 days during Holy Weed and other out of town vacation. I enjoyed lot being with her.

Age 15 I feel more excited in this age. I become busier in our school. activities I sated acting a true lady that never happened before.

Age 16 this is my third year high school and I may say the most busiest year for me because elected vice president for the high school organization. I become responsible being in that position.

Age 17 my fourth and last year in the Philippine school for the deaf. This time I became a first woman president of high school organization. I am so proud that time that is why I showed my teachers and classmates that I deserved that important positive. I work hard and became more responsible for everything with regards to school activities, problems and improvement. I also go on the job training at the Philippine Star and assigned to do computer works and design. This experience adds knowledge to me. on the letter part of my high school I feel sad thinking that I will leave the school I learned to love since m kindergarten days, but excited also for another chapter of my life in college. I graduated from the Philippine School for the Deaf. These are: salutatorian, Gerry Roxas Leadership Award, and Special Award for Advocacy, best in computer Education, best in sign Language, Girl Scout of the year, athlete of the year. I am so proud of myself that time keeping in my mind that I will continue the good works I have done before with the help of my parents, teachers and other that became part of my life.

Age 18 life became different for me when I am in years being a more matured lady: everybody so curious about being an eighteen year old girl, a “debutante” for some girls are saying. I celebrated my debut a simple way, with some friends, classmates and cousins. Although it’s not that grand debut I thanked my parents who made an effort to cooked foods for my friends, also thanked my parents who made an effort to cooked foods for my friends, also for all who remember me and send me especial gifts. I love them very much.

My family belong to average income bracket so my lifestyle is not so fashionable. My father earns enough for our daily needs but can say I can not left behind with these above average. Families. Because I am a girl, I am more close to my mother because she can communicate me very will, can understand my needs and my likes. I also close to my father, he is kind but he is not so good in sign language. My mother, sister, brother know how to sign language, only my father know a little but he understand me. they all accepted and loved me more. During my last days in my fourth year I and my father conflicts because I always go home late and he don’t understand it. but now we fixed think already.

I feel no patient from my mother, my father listen his wife speak about me but I did not listen with her, my father fight with me, I feel shock so fight us and I escape and bring clothes the bag when I put at the luneta park stay when I did not ever take back home. I feel very much hurt from my parents why they don’t understand about me. anyway I watch the television about new s when I cant hear it so ask to my sister or mother but they did not care about me what I ask. I have realize about family, sometime they have question me when I will not talk all with my family but now I can say happy at home we peace us thing already. We are backing our family. Now I am very sad of my dad. He is not here and nothing.

I AM ACTING ALIKE BOY

Since I was young that I think about 7 years old... I feel alike boy acts why I know that I always join with boy barkada through play card. Anyway! We play with play card then we have a bet with money if front card passing then have pay but back card failed to have a pay Php20.00…we are busy to play with card everyday but what you think? Why I join the boy barkada only. This is not girl join. Because make me bore with girl…I feel boring when girl always call me that search suitor so I don’t like to search for guy suitor. I escaped to hide in the place near comfort room because I want with boy barkada play often after lunch, recess and snack when vacant have time... we can play card…

In the morning, we immediately play card early… what you think? Why we play it early in the morning? We need bet for money from play card, we always hid in the play. Teacher can catch us not allow play card but we are secret sure seems corruption the money… just kidding!!! Then I am tired play card with them about 4 or 5 hours later I feel rest again but my one friend calls me again. NO WAY!!! Of course, they think about me president of barkada…I accept often play it with them. I win my bet money is high so I am happy but one problem friend pretend is not pay to me during play card bet. He is bad pretend to me but I am still fight with him must pay me it…don’t be cheat!!!

My experiences that I was escape in my elementary class this afternoon. I did not attend in my class this 1pm to 3:30pm because I am big temple escape with boy’s barkada go to masagana then we arrive in the mall masagana for game pay 1 pesos but I am guilty that I did not attend my class. My parents maybe got mad at me beat. I am still afraid them. I inform my barkada then they said don’t worry for me. I can’t believe them so I am begging them that I can go home early hurry protect late home. They allow me go home leave them. I ride in the jeepney I go straight my mom works in the office then I feel relax there is my mom is still working finish yet… that is safe for me!

We got breakfast in the morning school to this afternoon when I move the room for class subject other so I ask my teacher that may I go to comfort room then she lets me go to out comfort room. I walk on the street to comfort room outside near dormitory when my barkada met me then they said “come us play now” I think on temple which are class or play card but I failed not go to class. I straight to play it with them hid in the place 1 hour later I can feel sensitive my time when I check my time alert so I cut back in my class but I rebel climb in the gate because it is locker so I am bad character even I am girl go to climb up on the door gate when guard catch to me. I am stuck… that is bad too! He brings me record in the office. I am worrying. My parents got mad at me again. I don’t want them angry to me. Office calls my adviser teacher about me record with barkada then she warning to me can’t do climb on the door gate because I am girl not let climb it. I accept next time will not do it again. 2months after I forget to rule climb on the door then I am still climb on the door again when someone teacher witness us. She is strictly to bring us record in the office. I have record on 2times rebel rules in the school.

My best friend is Erickson even barkada when he meeting with me about schedule for play card often. I still addict play it never stops. Of course, I am tomboy past why I feel comfort with boy include… I have no problem with boy barkada…then for me, enjoy play it them. For me, dislike join girl groups when girl can gossip, jealous and hypocrite. I know girl groups nature us VS someone. I give up with girls groups before…when she encourages to me don’t act alike boy or don’t join with boy barkada. I misunderstand them that are why. They got jealous easily right… I don’t care about girl groups. I have my alright. You know what? Girl group are my enemy because we angry us through group gender.

When I wear my t-shirt and short looks boy acts but my mother got anger me that she don’t like me wear boy t-shirt. She angry to give me dress for girl then I am still spoil dislike use dress for girl. I don’t feel girl myself…I have a express boy acts for me…since I always copy t-shirt from boy wear it…when my best friend girl warns me that she don’t like me boy dress so I am very shy because she is a richer. She loves girl dress than simple dresses…she spends the money girl dress more…when she decide to get me go to vacation with her in our summer later I observe she is a girl nice then I am shame I can’t use my dress for boy because Filipino culture gossip about me. I don’t want destroy my name…

My mother and I go to SM ayala every Saturday because my mother likes to buy something in SM when we look a things are dress, shoes, t-shirt, pants, skirt later she wants to buy a dress for girl for me. I think to try use dress for girl when she tells to me please I go to fit dress… I am shy can’t fit dress… she said that I fit dress at home… I am cool don’t want to show a girl my mother…we got at home already then she go out neighbor her friend talking…I try dress up a girl when I inspiration myself girl dress girl than boy.. Until I use my dress girl as forever... Boy clothes no more...

I was 5 years old back about my experience. My mother was born to me then she did not know about me had deaf. She look me normal born. Later she found out it me become deaf. She realizes before that she got sick Germans in pregnant with plenty of medicine. One time, I hear near television and very loudly but I’m still can’t hear sound and loud. My parents are sensitive very loud volume. They were surprise m. they are worrying how can I hear? They want me hearing. My mama bring me test hear. Doctor (said) talk my mom can’t change or fix my hear. Doctor said that I am deaf. My mom accepts me deaf why? She had a relative of deaf heritage. I am being enter my school enroll when I was 7 year old. Why am I late entering the school why because my mom can’t find the school for deaf long 2 years?

Yes, my dream and interest. I dream that I wish become a rich in the future, if I am single because of I can’t afford for in the future hard life so better I am still single become a own my richer in the future. My dream that my house wants big formal because of I want to own my formal our house in the future. I have a car, that’s why I want to learn car and I need to license for training of car, I wish I want to be become a hero in the Philippine because I want to own deaf for in the Philippine also I want to support for people I want to be wish but not.. my interest want to be become player varsity for table tennis that’s why I am so more skill my player what: volleyball and table tennis and computer game and many skill but I most love to player table tennis its swear and I want to teach each other because I want to help any one. My interest want true all thing even I interest in the jobs and master why because I want to learn myself skill even I want to again studying in master but I can’t afford for pay our school master or I maybe try again studying in the future also my skill need open skills.. between I have to interest the shoes that’s why I always look for people’s shoes but I wish, I have a many shoes rubber because of I want to comfort in my shoes also people who had shoes using, interest the computer, I have to wish, I want to learn this video editing in the computer that’s why I want to more skill all things so I am very excite learn fast about video editing. I am so smart but need humble right that is better because I don’t want to show off people that’s why people get sensitive with me so =that I want to myself personal..

I see myself. I noticed, I lost beautiful and fat later plus sad, depress and serious because I feel tired my school transport. For me not easy my time that’s why I always chores at my home and I take care of my bunso baby also hard wake up in the morning when my mom told me that must more eat regular my time so that I want to follow from my mom what she said about it.. but my schedule balance got wrong and my control is mistake why? I sometime left my balance time. I have a problem about my money, friend, lesson and time. I lost happy and show smiling. So I think back my life before is better than now don’t know why? I learn lesson now my life I am back my emotion wants show smiling, happy and confidence each other better in my life now that’s why I don’t know nothing feel myself because I am too zero thing so now I want to change myself.. Anyways I saw my hair is very ugly not straight. TECHNOLOGY COMPUTER

USB… my experience was complaining about floppy disk broken, some destroy. I did not aware floppy disk can break. I waste my money that I buy it many times because it broken. It is not working so I feel angry floppy disk takes advantage my money and business also…later I study the lesson about how to save files… I noticed the USB but I don’t know what USB is. Later I found that is not destroy or not broken. I want to check how much USB is but I am stuck can’t buy it because it is expensive php1, 000 to up. I am poor can’t buy it. When anybody has a USB then I got jealous it. I know now USB mean accept high picture, files, memory limit. I have to plan buy my USB for save files some important right. I wish my USB must improve include design color. I want to have my own USB.

PC COMPUTER… I have a computer but this is cute why it’s small with white and blue. I don’t expect it complete installer when I noticed someone has a computer is big than me. I misunderstand it that we are not fair PC computer our different. Later I doing my assignment or adobe Photoshop then what happen in my computer have warning from monitor about low memory that I don’t understand why warn it. When PC computer is not working open and floppy disk so I bring my PC computer in the ITC because free repair. Repair told me that my PC is not enough casing, no motherboard, no USB and old floppy disk. They must change new replace or addition technology. I feel disgust then I did not aware about PC so I will plan to buy my PC computer P4, motherboard, DVD rom burn, casing, USB porter next year…

CELL PHONE… I was first using my cell phone BOSCH. This is not NOKIA. My mother has a new cell phone also BOSCH when she doesn’t know how to use cell phone then she asked to me teach her how to using cell phone. Impossible! I can’t use cell phone that I never experience use it. I just invent type on a cell phone. Later I learn the improve familiar how to use cell phone. I got jealous often. I feel angry of cell phone addition technology with camera. Of course, my cell phone boring like a new other. I thinking about cell phone with camera many times then I try save my money but still failed to save the money. The money still gone. I just buy a cell phone color without camera 2600nokia. I will have to plan new cell phone with camera soon. Hahahahahah!

MOUSE… when my hand with mouse feels not comfort. This is rough not smooth. So I patient using my mouse is with white ‘PCC’. I look the mouse many times…mouse still addition on technology. It have a color are blue, black, white, green, red and etc. then I am envying of mouse. I like to buy a mouse has light. I notice mouse can connect to monitor without wire on PC. I can’t buy a mouse is little expensive later my best friend gifts me mouse is gray with light. I am very happy that I have a new mouse. My mouse keeps in my cabinet. This is will not use. First PC computer must new.

KEYBOARD… when I type on the keyboard in PEN-MLC. I feel comfort with keyboard. It is good keyboard is smooth can quickly types. This is not hard type. I have a computer with keyboard. Keyboard is tradition white not black. I like to change my keyboard is new black. Of course it hard type. So I feel still boring with keyboard. I noticed keyboard can connect to monitor with wire on PC and mouse also… I know keyboard connect is experience so I can’t buy these it. When my best friend spy at me that I want…… she plans to me new a keyboard. She is still gifts me a new keyboard and mouse also. I bring it at home put to PC wire. When I type on my keyboard then I feel satisfy than white keyboard. Hahahahahah!

512 MB MEMORIES…I bring my PC in the ITC again. I can’t pay repair outside so I thirst free repair in ITC. I talk with ITC. This is my CPU computer. Why it CPU not accept installer. But I am not aware about memory. So ITC service check in my PC is very low memory. It should high memory can accept any installer then I learn that. I asked him that how much memory are… its very expensive about 3,000 pesos. I still can’t buy it this money. I think I will buy a new 512 memory next year not now. I don’t have my money… Hahahahahah! I am poor... just kidding.

CD INSTALLER…I did not aware about cd installer but I never hear cd installer spread for me but I never visit cd installer store in mall. Later I aware through ITC teach me what cd installer is…I now know it is mean then I spend the cd installer. I buy a cd installer are games, adobe Photoshop, movie maker, and etc. I am very exciting installer my CPU many times. I attract the CD installer many different. I want to buy it. Its cheap php 50.00. I love to buy CD installer games only than program others.

TITLE COMPUTER… you know what? I did not yet choose what better of title computer now. This is title compute many improve. I can’t choose one computer title. So I don’t like to choose IMB I feel no like this IMB. I like a new title computer soon… I am still look at computer title in mall. I will change my pc also title change. I want attract on title computer. You know what? I am still save my money right now.

My New Computer Appears Late

Since kid about 5 years old. I was with my mom and cousin goes to AVON. My mom told us that we don’t out to stay in AVON. My mom also buy a dress AVON when we play about hands later I see what is that computer…I look turn like what thing but my cousin touch the computer of AVON office. I told her don’t touch it because she don’t know how to use computer. She is careless mistake type the computer and monitor so I help her but I am not really families the computer… I invent click the computer. We are afraid mistake clicks this computer.

After I finished graduation in my elementary. I hear that Japan donate PSD computer for subject. I asked my adviser teacher. Computer can use for us elementary but she said 1st year to 4th year use the computer for subject. We don’t have a subject of computer this elementary so I understand that. We must attend to visit in the computer room with air condition because of computer protect hot anymore then I went home early. I lay on the bed in my room dream my goal for future about computer that I want to have my computer but no!!!

My best friend gets me too sleepy in her house that we have a vacation day. I noticed that she have a computer but I don’t touch her computer. I just nothing touch it right. She will open the computer. For me, I watch on the television. We are doing our different that she calls me to watch her computer how to use the computer but I feel not like to watch it. She feels bad at me because I hate the computer but I am not aware about what mean it. She forces to get me must learn the computer. I think I was 14 years old an ago. I begin more learning computer how to open pc, clicks, mouse, keyboard, on monitor and DVD drives when morning I wake up early in the morning why I temple game computer but she is so happy. She wants me learn how to computer. I hope that my course will maybe take my course in the college.

I become a 1st year after graduation in my elementary days last later I have my subject is computer so I am exciting to be have computer belong can subject for me… of course, I learned the computer already since tutor until 1pm subject computer my class then I enter in classroom. We are together our classmate in the room but we are not really become a computer but we just only practice or evaluate for 2months after move course other (cooking, salon, computer, sign language, electrician and etc. take a subject each for 2months only. my teacher lecture about history of computer so they give us student learn the lesson when I thinking that I don’t have a computer at home…I was sad during 3rd year because of computer that I want to have my computer but my parents are poor can’t buy these money for computer.

I was a 4th year in the 2 last years. I think this January when my teacher give to me OJT (of job training) computer. I take a job for Philippine star about newspaper but I was nervous that company will give to me work hard. Let me try in company. I found company in department about encoding report, type the computer the schedule of movie, make adobe Photoshop, Xerox paper from report and scanner picture also words. You know what? I am alone separate my classmates are different title DEPARTMENT. So I am alone deaf with all hearing only in our room… I feel panic why am I alone without deaf other… hearing told me that don’t worry then I feel cool…not make me panic or nervous no more. You know what? I am not very understand what is Photoshop is. My friend helps me how to process adobe Photoshop that I think about PSD have a computer right but this lesson not have lesson the adobe Photoshop, scanner picture. I learned the lesson about typing; ms offices and print are only lesson. I was graduation in my high school.

When I visit my best friend in the house then I am even college but she was not studying in her CSB. She was studying at Miriam College. Later her father meets me at home. He asked me that how is you… I replied that I am fine… he asked the question for me about what my course is. I take up my course is Multimedia Art only but my course first deaf studies. I go to school this early morning. I have my assignment about computer education. When I feel boring always do type the word and PowerPoint later I will be 2nd year in the college. I am curious what lesson is for 2nd year course. Faculty MMA inform us student this lesson is adobe Photoshop, adobe illustrate, and etc. I am exciting that I will not boring my course. I went home hurry after class because of computer. I have a computer at home when I addict the computer over. I love to make myself adobe Photoshop but I don’t have an internet at home. I need it. So I think better I go to CSB enough internets free right. I addict computer until now.

Boxer Beautiful

I am alone to watch the movie with my computer DVD rom video. I don’t have DVD movie then we don’t buy it no more because we maybe not usually watch on the movie and will not spend the CD movie anymore… we are avoid waste our money right… but I always think machine my mind about want to watch the movie any title. I like watching movie with DVD movie on the television. My mother is not allowed me watch the movie. We can’t these pay for bill high. Of course, my father got his salary is very low. My mother is an only housewife. She is without works. I can excite to watch movie about ghost, karate, magician, fight and romantic than others. I most watch the movie in all ghost and strange.

You know what? I never watch the movie in the house even I am lonely long time then I am doing text mate only that is nothing do others. When I have a new computer then I can spend the watch movie. I feel no problem. My friend is with me look DVD movie buys. I try put on my PC with DVD rom video. But my mom tells to me hold to watch it. I first have priority to do at home than watch the movie. I feel sayang! I feel lazy cleaning a lot.

“Boxer Beautiful” Nong Toom was kid maybe 5 years old. Her mom is with him visiting in the festival then she warning him about doesn’t out so far others no more that he don’t around so far from in place. He obeys what she says to him. Later He misunderstands them. They look mix with people loudly excite. He just around in the small place at festival party, boxer competition, ms.gay competitions in the Asia. When he spy of ms.gay. He entered in the room’s ms.gay. One gay put on the table when it falls his lipstick after he sees hole in the room then he get the lipstick because he some learned how to lipstick already the he brings it at home when he makes a lipstick on his mouth. He shows program dance with song with act gay but one problem that is! His father angry at Nong Toom because he doesn’t like him gay. He makes him require must be boy. It is not change on gay no more. His father makes very serious himself.

When his father sends his brother and he study in monk stay in lives with monk. He just show honor in the monk when teacher’s monk ask to him. He told me that he don’t like a Man monk. He likes to become a woman. Teacher says him nope that is he can’t make to become a woman no more. When he makes boring in the class Monk so his classmate and he is partner go to falls swimming. His classmate sees his do lipstick. He calls him why do you use lipstick. Nong Toom said not for lipstick on my mouth. If lipstick has light with color mean this is not lipstick. Classmate said still can’t believe what he said when they go to waterfalls later classmate jump dive in the river look a boy act but one problem Nong Toom jump to seem girl jump that is not boy jump. Classmate angry that do not like to do gay or woman. He commands lipstick must throw don’t keep it.

Grow up……he become a handsome. He works in business flower with partner girl. One American buys a red flower. He said please buy for you easy can give your girlfriend but American said is your Nong Toom girlfriend. Woman’s partner said you are not woman…he is alright can be become a woman in the future. She warning him doesn’t girlfriend with man others. When his brother youngest with his visit in the boxing house later brother likes enter in the house then Nong Toom run to follow him where go. He is panic because people boxer starring them but brother youngest shows amazing can be karate but not! Why he pain on his leg when karate on sand. They laugh a tease brother youngest is dumb cant doing karate. Boxer other requires Nong Toom karate on the sand stand but he is smart good karate. They can’t believe when coach hears or see that he can karate then maybe succeed boxer. Nong Toom begs coach join the boxer. Coach can’t accept him join. They explain to coach then coach accept to join them require exercise work hard.

Nong Toom practices an exercise work hard. He feels near give up join the boxer. Coach encourages continue don’t give up your goal. Nong Toom thinking his goal. He committee continues the boxer then he is winner in the boxer competition. Coach is very happy that he is very good karate and learned faster. Later Coach will die soon before fight in country. Coach hopes that is Nong Toom is famous boxer.

He is winner in the Asia’s most world boxer. He fights like a man so he can become a woman. He join the boxer what purpose that need to support his family is poor so they improve a succeed in their life then they have a money. He fights with other many times. He is still winner often in Asia’s boxer. When he want to fight in the country when his father not accept sign of Nong Toom about become a woman or change on his body for woman. But his father really loves him so much. He lets him change on his body of woman. He feels appreciation on his father.

My Experience enter a rich in society

Since I was a kid 7 to 14 old years when I was young only normal in my life. That is ok. I have never to be wish about rich in the future. Of course, I don’t feel or want to be rich like other who is rich. I don’t have experience with richer in everything. I just normal only but I saw someone looks rich. I think what richer doing is! Hmmmm! I guess, richer have a car, richer have a big house a lots with family’s rich, richer have a many the money and richer maybe husband or beautiful looks 100%.

I have one friend but I don’t know is she… I feel normal same with her like me as her. When she wants me become our best friend because we are together a long years during preparatory to grade 6. I am sure her best friend when I observe her many times because she always makes a very nice her uniform then I misunderstand her that she is maybe richer. Good idea, why not! This is ME! I put my picture magazine looks actress because I like to try changing my picture from internet of picture. Of course, I make myself through adobe Photoshop then I evaluate my picture if is it fit… I often edit on adobe Photoshop but I am depend of teacher because I need teacher check on my magazine edit later it is complete when I calling my teacher is Mr.Rjay Jay checks his student on exercise in our class when he evaluate to me this is my picture looks girl fashion copy other. I feel so shy because I think this looks ugly but he helps me edit. I am cool that is my alright. Then he accepts to me approve my exercise purpose I need to practice how to make it. Heheheehe!!!

You know what? I was thinking it that I need to make myself with magazine during my high school past but I never know where is get to make in magazine even I never aware about adobe Photoshop and computer multimedia art also…of course I don’t have a computer right then I want to see myself what I look on magazine but not… later I never experience used the computer program with adobe Photoshop when I came in the school CSB then I visit to enter in the PEN-MLC before I become a student freshman even I feel ignorant because I first time to see computer have many in the class. It is looking very expensive on technology then I asked my friend SDEAS student from old PSD. Someone explained to me already that am course MULTIMEDIA ART for photography, adobe Photoshop, web design, flash and something until thesis… I interest begin to addict computer how to make a magazine later I succeed some know how to make it.

I know he comforts girl. Doy Ganda always show funny, comics herself because he skills show to drama for us about fun, comics, tease others. He is good his drama and dances. I understand him...Robert is a 1st year in CSB SDEAS. He looks wonderful adult because he old than Doy ganda right...agree? He is smart in personal with others. If someone misunderstand answer so straight to Robert. He cans answer himself experiences many times. Since this 7 years until now, Julie Rose is my childhood or with so long in my neighbor at rent home. She lives with her parents in Batangas, Lipa so i close friend her so long. Have a enjoy with my best friend

My relationship with people is quiet good. I can deal with everybody but sometimes misunderstand. I have a lot of friends, but some of them are not true some are hypocrite. I have my best friend named Krista Madella Montero now as my friend and a companion everyday. I can’t make friends because I can’t approach them easily but one we started talking and find each other comfortable, friendship began there. When I realize I am deaf and see laughing or smiling but later I found out that we belong to a different community and we can only understand an unite each other I f we both use a sign language. And as I can see now deaf and hearing people can unite by means of introducing each need to be able to communicate.

Since in college, I think that we are with so long two years. You know what? I started to meet her through at the B303 because we took our exam for apply the school for the deaf but that is lucky, I chose her a new friend. God guides to me meet her new friend. I can’t believe why I go. By the way! We were start of first day classes… until break time! I walk on the downstairs at SDEAS when I was shock her. She is really wait for me break time. I feel panic. Alright, I will try to together with her in the canteen. Later, we communicate about any thing (our parents, relationship, experience journey, communicate with hearing and story our school) more improve. We laughing or funny about tease us. We got happiness each other.

My best friend don’t like with someone other because she feels not type with other. I think if she will not make her happy. I avoid her don’t make depress anymore. I think better that I help her that she should not depress then she is my true friend. She is persistent meet me much. I understand her that is why? She likes me communicate so much. I will never complain about her apathy for me. I will allow her what she wants. She loves play seems child (playground). I never feel boring with my best friend together everywhere. I am not making a fake friend. You know what? There is the deaf people gossip about my best friend because. She is not good attitude that is she have a deny with other. I never believe what they said to me about her. I know that they want me separate with her. I promise continue to be my best friend. I have trust and worth. I will not separate her no more. I got enjoy with her easy. I love her as best friend.

Food Court, my best friend is calling me often through in the classroom. She always wait for me lunch. Of course, we are different our section. By the way! We always have to discuss about what is the restaurant best. She told me that any restaurant. I will responsible to choose I want. We have been to suggest us about that... I feel enjoying much than before. After class at 12nn for lunch, we usually go out from in CSB. We have to eat our lunch. We visit those restaurant (McDonald, Max’s, Pizza Hut, Chowking, Jollibee, Topical Hut, Santy’s kitchen, and Shakey) everyday. We spend the money this college than in the upper school. You know what? I try to pretend. I inform her that I buy a cigarette but she got angry me. She doesn’t like me have a cigarette. Just kidding! She makes disgust for me. I laugh to tease her. We are sharing our treat for lunch and snack. We are same the orders for food. We move a new in our life this college…

My best friend begs me that I come in the house because she is without at home. I think on 2pm. She jumps for me visit in there. I like to watch movie. I excite there have many CD movie. We are together to watching movie when I am hungry for snack. She buys for me free. Ha-ha! I maybe poor! Joke kidding! I play to throw pillow with her on the sofa… I favor her sweet person because for me, comfort person hug… we are greedy the food that is why? We are talkative so long time when I am hungry because of talkative. I forget to eat, no way! I must eat a regular. In Mall, we are happy so much through appointment in Mall that we more spend the money for appointment… we are together watch movie in the Mall. Pop corn buys for movie. We have to buy a dress, slipper, restaurant (McDonald). We enter the internet cafe a chat room. We chat with other in country but we are not search for boy a marry, no way! Anyway! I drama hide the place when she is afraid lost without me, I often laugh to spy what she looks. I found out that she is panic much. Of course, she is alone in Mall. When I yell her back. She also yell with afraid. I laugh big. She looks style on her face.

Relationship with boyfriend

Since grade six at the Philippine School for the Deaf (PSD). I was 13 old years. I don’t have love any one. My friend is Erickson. He encourages me better find love. I can’t become a relationship with other because I am not ready with relationship. He said don’t worry just crush only simple. I doubt that is ok. He will plan for me to find love. I am panic. He asked Lao please tell to me “I LOVE YOU”. Lao says why? Erickson likes fan us. Lao thinks that is ok like tells ‘I Love You’. I accept I love you too but I know only playmates but not true. He true loves me. I don’t think with him if love. I really like to play with him because I am usually group of boys. I never join the group of girl.

I am with Lao so long months during in school. We begin a becoming our suitor then I is so excite to start our relationship coming. My suitor always looks at me during in classroom. Of course, he is my classmate and suitor also. I have a little sweet with him. He always likes near me side on the chair. We have a together go to eat in the canteen our recess and lunch. After 1st year high school but we are not classmate on 1st year. It’s alright. We can meet each other. By the way! My classmate is Marion Renz, he have a friend of Jaypee about me. Jaypee crush on me. Renz calls me to talk something. We talk about Jaypee crush on me then I don’t know who Jaypee is when Jaypee introduce ourselves through in the school at classroom. I turn relationship with other. I sometime forget my suitor because Renz calls me to meet Jaypee often. So I busy to meet him often. I leave my suitor but Lao don’t hear about me meet to Jaypee. I know Lao is kindness never angry at me. Even I like Lao than Jaypee but I am weird why do I meet Jaypee. Renz and Gliane are stubborn to call me must to meet Jaypee NOW NOW NOW!

Renz and Jaypee ride in the jeepney “Malibay” they are ride with me on the way Pasay. I can’t talk with Jaypee any more. Jaypee really loves me. I refuse him talk to me. I feel that he is ugly. She was born in Batangas, San Juan because it’s coming on summer day… but I am not there in home but I staying in Julie’s house at Lipa, Batangas for one week. When I was surprise my suitor joins my family our vacation. How come they invite him? I think so that they allow me have a suitor. I thought they will not allow me have a suitor. But sure that is allowed.

Her friend’s Jaypee invites me on her birthday debut as. He is happy because he likes partner for me dance. I am very shy that I don’t know how to dance for debut when we have to attend our practice for debut from in Pasig, fort Santiago every Sunday. My suitor fetches me to arrive her house in Pasig for practice but I have a best friend meet in there. She also invites on her debut. I have a enjoy with my suitor spend our time. He always brings me home after practice debut.

After two years and 6 months our anniversary. He is my relationship so long without disturb on others because he is my love and he also. He fetches me home everyday after class. I noticed he always wait for me recess. He wants me with go to canteen. I always happy to see him smart basketball game. I attract that he is so handsome. I know he writes on the notebook. It’s beautiful. I am much crush on my boyfriend. His uniform fits. He is kind, tall, tan, smiling, and handsome. You know what? I never boring with boyfriend our relationship because its not end our relationship. I got new to have a relationship.

My experience, I am very sadly and very hurt because we break up our relationship already after graduation because I was suffering with my boyfriend. He is not serious with me. Of course, we always quarrel every time. I realize with him. I will not back our relationship anymore. He will not trust and worth for me. But I am very depressing since 2years. I forget him during 2years also. I never meet him anymore.

What I look my foreign?

At home since we sit on the sofa set talking right that we have to talk something. I asked my mother. What story I background in my life? If good or bad! She said it is good in my life. Oh! How I do life? She started a story about me. I don’t expect what I look foreign. My mother brings me to school in the morning right. Her friends asked my mother but they don’t know who my mother is! They thought she is only YAYA take care of me. She is inside quietly. She tells to them that are not me yaya. She is my mother as I am her daughter. They feel shame why? They asked to her that is wrong question about yaya! She is misunderstanding. My mother asked them why I am yaya. Because of me... I am china. In the school, I was studying at PSD right. My teacher & friends look at me. I feel disturb them that they looking at me everywhere. I am ignoring them. Not important amazing! I try to ask my best friend when my best friend asks me where I am born. Me, why ask me about that? She heard from them about me that I am china. I am very surprise. Nope! A relative of father... I am with my father go to boat in batangas near puero gallery. My father of siblings in batangas. Of course! They were born in batangas right. Anyway! We have an invite on his cousin birthday from batangas ship. Cousin was 18 years old on debut. The people starring us are walking during on the street. We have a party on night with disco. I am very exciting to watch there is disco. My father just talking with his brothers more time. They ask him about me. In the neighbor… my mother commands me to buy a vegetable for dinner when I go out of my house. The people spy me pass on walking. I have angry at them because don’t like the people watching me & hate them watching me every time. So my mother goes out neighbor with friends after dinner. They are talkative with my mother later they inform my mother about me that I seem Chinese. She thinking of me wonder becomes a show like Chinese. My mother makes proud of me herself. So she excites to be continuing talk with her neighbor everything.

I wanna talk with my mother again repeats about Chinese. How! My mother said that I am adopting from china other. Other parents sell adapt for me to my mother. I noticed her seem not true a story about me background so I doubt. I analyze that she maybe joking only. She makes a try test for me only. If I can leave by home life with my mother. I was moving with other who true parents. My mother said only joking because I don’t want adopting anymore but I will not moving in my life without my mother then I decides to with life my mother. I know she is only joking. She is so happy with me.

In present at college... when I walk during volunteer about sharing express. True friend look at all my body. A true friend said me that I am looking a Chinese. I tell her why I am Chinese? She just said to me that my back body & waist half seem Chinese when I walk seem Chinese… my classmate is Myra right. She disturb to me then I hey why are you disturbing me? When I walk plus my body back still look Chinese. How come I china? She said that I don’t come here in the Philippine. I must stay in my life from china. Crazy! My best friend is 3rd cute very much. She makes an exciting herself because she like me very much through I am looking Chinese. She wants me become a new friend. I accept with her new friend. Original Best Friend

Since I started in my elementary when I was in grade 2 in Philippine School for the Deaf (PSD). I remembered in my life with her ago. She was on her birthday. I think that she was a kid as 10 years old when her mom & his brother bring in school to blow out for classmates. They are so richer. My classmates had own seat with table right. I arrive in the classroom. I look for my own seat. There is full when I look at her then she calls me but I am blush & shy. She tells to me please that we are together eating on our table is one. So I don’t want to make me shy don’t know why? Make me shy for her. She talking sign language herself with me but I can’t express talk with her. Of course! I have no sign language even I am silent. I look myself that is I am a turtle! No way! I am not animal. Just kidding! Anyway, we have a long together since grade two & three.

In grade four, my classmate favorite is Serena. I like her had a babalu when I play with her in the playground. I swing. When one friend got jealous because I always meet Serena is bias. So one friend is little angry me that she makes her mine for me but I hate friend. She feels hurting. The teacher announces that we go to garden to clean. I am with Serena. She doesn’t like me with anywhere. I hurt her. One friend meets me like with anywhere but I am in disgust that I am patient with her. We make a together in recess, at canteen, lunch, and talk us on stage everyday. We always laugh on story a long background ourselves. I never stop together with her. I am very happy that is young have a fun in my life is beautiful.

In grade 5, I was very sadly. My friend enemies already. She got angry me. I have do wrong something. When I passed on walking to her but she snubbing me then I feel sadly. Later we met on pass so we make our snob. We don’t look at us each other anymore. I have to become a bad attitude, behaviors; my character is not good because I am disrespect with teacher. Of course, I lost my friend without adviser me about value. I lost control my attitude. She sees me that she feels shame to me not good for me. I am with bad boy doing to me plays like boy acts. We are not talking time. I always with boys go in the masagana at games like play station. Our Christmas is coming our party in the classroom. We have an exchange our gift as bring own food. When she meets me ‘hi’ me too hi. She says to me “I am sorry” we peace. I have no problem my friend.

At grade 6, our summer in bicol that I stayed in province for 2 months. I am very remembering what I describing! Of course, I am very thin, ugly like monkey and look me weak. When I eat more everyday in province. I don’t expect that I become a normal fat. I did not notice grow-up myself. When I back to school on every June right. My classmates are very surprise or shock when they see different for me. My friend meets me that she tells to me wonder. I don’t understand them. She attracts me so I can’t believe her. When I check the mirror for myself again. I find realize that I am different my face. I back to meet my friend. I say yes that is true. I became a fat on my face had a chubby. I have eyes look Chinese. The teacher have a question me about “who is your best friend” me, I answer that Ana Kristina is my best friend. He repeats it his question her. She still same answer I am her best friend. We feel inspiration true friend. So we keep our friendship. We are very long a together.
Until in 3rd year high school, I hurt her when she makes leave me anywhere. I find out that his suitor talk flatter her that I am bad so I can’t believe how come I bad. I very understand her because she falls in love with him. My best friend lost value herself because of suitor so I don’t care about my best friend. I know she don’t follow me. They are destroying their name. She hurts with suitor. Other students abuse them about sex already. They informed the teacher is Physical Fitness then he records the office in principal. My best friend & suitor don’t expect never sex them. I heard from them so I emergency my best friend hurry I protect her destroy her name. I challenge. They are separate relationship. I am happy that they already break up because I don’t like him that he really foolish my best friend but she is still hurt & crying. I don’t know why? What happen with her? She talked with me that she would be moving in the school other next year for 4th year high school from SAID. I am very sad. So I understand her.

In the college, we are different in the school for college. I have little forget my best friend can’t keep her. She was move in her life with barkada. I would be new true friend next. We are so far away. She begs me back our best friend not want leaves us alone. She begs me question too much about DLS-CSB. I think that she will be applying for college again. Let me see! SDEAS will accept my best friend welcome to study. I am very happy that our best friend will be backing now. She was first time in the DLS-CSB. She is very exciting our school. The place is beautiful and opportunity. She was wonderful the school is big place. She makes eager herself to study. Now I noticed she is very stress working hard right now.. task task!

“I HURT”

Last October 17 & 24. I know my dad is only normal with his heart. So make not worry him. When he started asthmas. Then I have to go to school at CSB this morning. I feel not well because I had asthmas this afternoon so I asked doctor that I had asthmas. She has been to give me the medicine of asthmas. She said me that please rest my time. I am with my best friend go home early after class because my best friend fetch me home. My parents was surprise me not well. They fed me medicine hurry. I take my time. When I fall sleepy 9pm night but for me not expect happened my dad. My mother calling my dad but he is still not wake up. She is worrying so she begs someone please help him bring in the hospital at 11pm.

This morning when I get up almost 7am. I have idea where is my parents. My 3rd brother says they are in the hospital because my dad got asthmas hard. He also feels not well. So I am worrying of him that I don’t want him is always weak himself. I little spoiled because of him. Then I will have to go to school early. You know during ride in the tricycle I always think of my dad looks not well. He can not works but he wants to work. My mother tells him please first rest time more almost one week. We have a problem about money no salary. So my mom gives me a few money. I feel hurt because I see they have a problem about a money and sadly. She asked to borrow someone for pay in the hospital. She needs to the hospital. My dad is not like to go to hospital. Of course! He doesn’t have enough money. When I arrive in the school. I walk on the way to SDEAS that I still thinking of them. I cant stop forget them. Of course! I have a problem during class but I can’t learn the lesson any subject much. I lost control my studies.

I am in the house. I am happy because my dad has been rest time better. When he slowly walks because can tire. Later I ask my mom that I have to go to school now. She tells ok with me. I leave by home. Next happen my dad brings to the hospital immediately. He gets asthmas hard. I don’t hear from my dad. My parents stay in the hospital for two days. My mom will not back home because she takes care of him in the hospital. So we are children make worrying and don’t expect about him. We will be sleeping at night. My eldest sister is responsible for house. Since sleep on the floor with bed. We have to bring our cell phone side pillow. I will put time vibrate for wake up but add my sister received ring who my mom. My mother voices crying. She said “papa walang” so I don’t understand my mom and brothers. I asked to beg the neighbor aunt what happened my dad. Aunt tells sorry my dad died already. I feel hurting. I CAN’T BELIEVE” I crying with my baby brother got freeze. So I text my best friend of Ana & Krista about my dad. I inform Ana of mom so she can’t believe me. She calls my house. My aunt says yes my dad is true die. People can’t believe him because my dad is very young too. I will not go to school anymore because of my dad. Ana & her mom bring me in the car to Rizal funeral that I want to see him wake. When I enter the funeral become I cry hard. I am very hurt. Grandmother of my dad begs to cry that he wants alive. So we announce relatives, cousins, in laws and friends.

We stay in the funeral for 4days. I can’t sleep any more night until morning. I don’t have rest. I will absent in my class. My teacher knows me. My classmate & teacher will visit my dad wakes. So the teachers have an advice me about die. So I must understand or accept. You know what? We bring my dad burial in province at batangas city. He was born in batangas city.

I will invite my best friend, friend and classmates go to batangas then we are in the batangas I see the relative many. They are waiting for my dad brings his wakes. They feel touch and cry. They cry loudly. I feel wonder that we really love him so much. I know he is very kind. So I want to see my mother that what is she doing. I noticed she quiet sits. She looks sadly. Of course she always sweet my dad at home. We are hurt that is true. I first time my heart appear painful. I am very frustrated that I can’t forget him anymore. We have been wear white dress for him. You know what? I will not usually all red clothes for school so I keep it. I will wear any color that is ok.

We are back home. We cry again because my dad is not here at home. We also make hurt. We are very sad just sitting on the sofa. I think of him. I will remember my dad was life with us. He has a wish himself for us. So we work hard provide our family. We keep remembering him since life. We will work hard without him provide our family. We keep remembering him since life. You know what? My baby brother will not see my dad. He is one year old. I think he never knows him what happen but he cans feel.

I KNOW HE LOVES US. HE NEVER LEAVE US EVEN HE ALWAYS BESIDE WITH ME ANYWHERE MY DAD WAS LIFE WITH US THE END.

“Mother Spinelli Retreat House in Tagaytay City”

Last Friday, I was excited that I have to go to Tagaytay on Saturday. I have to plan my things for Saturday. I remember that batch 2nd last year. I feel heavy my bag why I yet aware about day. I bring many my thing into bag is heavy. Later I realize I don’t want to bring heavy bag. I must light my bag is simple. This morning at last Saturday, I go to school in CSB. I feel exciting much why I meet my friend many. I kiss my friends. I feel wonder so I am great better meet my friends than before. I seem to feel peace. I think that 2hours from CSB to Tagaytay. I first time with facilities hearing from
CSB and hearing interpret for deaf. I know only SDEAS FACILITIES but not. I surprise hearing join us deaf community that is true happy. I wish hearing needs join the deaf community more communication. Anyway, I feel sarap sleep in bus with air condition but when I get off in Tagaytay. I feel very cold in Tagaytay. For me, little likes cold with fog. I don’t expect what place for retreat. When I arrive in Tagaytay. I know that is place, I families this is place retreat because; I already went to Tagaytay last year. So repeats attend in Tagaytay this year. You know what? I feel afraid why I don’t know what activity in seminar. Why I have to feel afraid because I don’t want express sharing during stand up. I observe activity what title. I found five list activities have! I like most activity is blind-walker, why for me easy choose blind-walker. I am not afraid about blind-walker. I am very inspired to meet my enemy who that is krizelle joy. My partner real is Vanessa Esquivel. Vanessa support me blink-walker anywhere. Her idea I want to meet my enemy when she force me must meet krizelle but I don’t know who person is krizelle. Krizelle said “I AM SORRY” for me, accept for her forgive. Krizelle make hug me over. She cried. We go back in room seminar. Vanessa is volunteer stand to have her express about me and krizelle. She show us cry and happy because she want us peace. I feel touch in my heart belong cry. Krizelle and I are back our friendship. I feel thank very much from Vanessa really help me. I think Vanessa maybe trust me in everything. Vanessa is really my good friend. Facilities give us have our activity again what title? “Choose person who has problem or enemy” facilities said please meet person then go to place other not here in room. Students must personal hide place for their discuss. For me, I don’t have a choose to meet person have problem. I don’t want to meet person because I sometime angry anyone OR I feel no forgive anyone. I analyze found seminar mean express sharing and hurt person. I try my faith want to meet person forgive. My enemies already sorry me then I feel happy much. We are back our friendship again. Thanks God. We just listen facilities lecture about advise solve our problem. They help us learn about very important tell 3 attitude “I LOVE YOU”, “I AM SORRY”, AND THANK YOU. They said please remember it; we must remember word 3 tells. You know what? I see the ULAM. I don’t like some foods for lunch and snack. Later I have to see what food for dinner. I excite like the food for dinner. I love SALAD. By the way! I feel very inspire of krizelle. I feel true hug over. I look to hug mean deep feel forgive, love, I am sorry, cry and before think but I lost friend my friend of Doy Richard. I feel brave go to stand up express about Doy. I am saying why we got lost our friend. I hurt much from him. He equal goes to stand up express. He expressed his don’t know what happen for me. He tell me to I am sorry. He makes me hug and cry. ACITIVITY OTHER? I interest in activity one person to all students go to hug one person center. I feel happy to see students play game, laugh, tease, noisy much activities more. I feel wonder the opportunity. I feel that risk have to give a chance interact deaf community. I am very happy for the opportunity. You know what? I don’t aware about not good word for examples: “bobo” “mistake” why bobo because person can become very hurt must tell bobo never! I feel realize stop tell bobo. BOBO Word power. I am aware about bobo. I realize person can hurt. Facilities really advise us much how to right way good attitude person. Deaf community all complete express about hurt. Later I noticed facilities make cry themselves. I am wonder that admire facilities true listen student have an express sharing life deaf community or relationship with others. I am great with facilities why I am great because they true committee for deaf support life and encourage. Then we are going to bedroom. I feel sarap on bed feel sleepy like rest. I am cool bed. We enjoy talkative with student in bedroom. I noticed recent before last Saturday laughing, sadly, happy, serious and angry later this Sunday, we started make happy, love, sweet person and kisses. I really satisfy with my friend back. I don’t want hurt myself. We leave home by Tagaytay to back CSB. I ask facilities if we stop on the way for buy pasalubog. They said yes stop at there. I am exciting want to buy food. I already buy food spend my money for my family. I like to give my family. I don’t so not enough money that is alright go to buy food for give my family. Thanks God guide me go to buy food. Thank you for opportunity our big seminar this year.
